This is a delightful album that deserves far more coverage than it got from the music press. It's gentle undulations are hypnotic whilst the vocal harmonies entice and delight. Think Fleet Foxes, Goldheart Assembly or Stornoway in terms of sound but, in my humble opinion, this album is superior to anything produced by any of the above.
The opening track Coedine sets the tone with jangling piano and melting harmonies that loop and swoon throughout, further helped by the wonderful choral momentum developed through it's beautiful chorus. Marilyn is a jaunty pop dittie whilst Atlantis eases back into pseudo-country banjo/ukelele territory but without the corn. The stand-out piece though is Red Indians and Witches. Quirky lyrics laced with delicate backing vocals, it is a piece of pop genius at the genre's most lucid.
These guys can sing, they can play many different instruments and they generate oodles of goodwill from the listener due to their sunny dispositions. This a rich and sumptuous album that will certainly become a cult classic.
