This a small but complete book to get you started in understanding the basics of music theory. It is one of the best books if you have no clue as to how it all works. Understand, if you want a complete course for professional reasons, go on line to Berklee School of Music. I did,long ago, and it was worth every penny. If on the other hand, you are playing music but are tired of not knowing what everyone is talking about, buy this book. Small investment, large return. It even tests you at the end of each chapter. Better to have the information and not need it than the reverse. Trust me though, you will need it if you stay in music.
