This is one of those classic soundtrack albums, that transcends the film the songs are (for the most part) taken from. Although I loved the Matrix when I was 11 or whatever age when it came out, I haven't watched it in years. The soundtrack on the other hand still garners regular listenings. It basically follows the tried and tested 90's formula of metal-meets-techno to great effect, featuring songs you know, and songs you don't. Much of the material is performed by enduring and memorable artists (Rammstein's pummeling 'Du Hast', Marilyn Manson's effortlessly catchy 'Rock is Dead'), but the album's real triumph was popularising songs from lesser-known artists, no more obvious than with Rob D's timeless 'Clubbed To Death'. Other tracks, such as Hive's ultimately tuneless 'Ultrasonic Sound' or Meat Beat Manifesto's 'Prime Audio Soup' are rescued from total obscurity simply by their presence on this album. The ratio of rock numbers to electronic mishmashes may perfectly compliment the film's action/headf**k melting pot, but such observations are irrelevant nearly ten years later when such a collection of tunes proves to be more than just relevant to the picture they're promoting. Simply put, this is a well-structured album, no filler, and well worth a buy, even if Reloaded and Revolutions put you off the Matrix forever.

I first saw the matrix when it came out on video and since then I just couldn't put it down, the film is perfect and this soundtrack reflects that.
Most of the memorable tunes from the film are packed into this CD and also a few that didnt make it into the film (e.g. Lunatic Calm - Leave You Far Behind).
I dont usually like music by Marilyn Manson and heavy metal but this album changed that, this CD is the best I have and I love it.
Any person who enjoys the film is highly recommended to purchase this CD.

The fact that so many of the songs on this album are now used regularly in TV programs shows what an important compulation this is. The album takes a wide range of music and beautifully brings it all flowing together. From Rage to Rob D, it is an album for all moods. The first thing you'll do once you've heard it (after listening it to a few more times) will be to go and look for more music by all the artists on it.
This is an album that will re-form your taste in music and remain in your CD player longer than any other. I still listen to it regularly three years after I bought it.

When I saw the film at the cinema, I fell in love with the end song by Rage against The Machine. I had second thoughts about buying the labum at first, because I didn't think the other music would be as good. I was WRONG! The best song without any doubt is Marilyn Manson's 'Rock is Dead', followed closely by Ramstein and Rage Against The Machine. All of the other tracks are incredible too - the likes of The Prodigy, Lunatic Calm, Monster Magnet and Propellerheads swell the ranks of class that spew from this masterful album. Three words for anyone with any doubts - BUY IT NOW!!!!

I thought the film the Matrix was great and the soundtrack is even better! I bought this after dancing along to the tunes while whatching the film. It is absouloutly brilliant! much better than some of the screechy rock you hear. if your not that into rock get this and you soon will be. the tunes are nothing short of great. but i wouldnt recommend it to the older people as i found out while listening to it and an old man named Jan passed by muttering "what is that awful noise?". sorry Jan its called music! anyway if you liked the matrix youll love this. buy it NOW!

The Matrix soundtrack is soooo unlike many other soundtracks, it lives upto the expectations of the film! The music ranges from unknown tracks to the more well known, but not so well publicised tracks. You've all seen the caffreys advert and sat there and felt that sudden stomach flip as the bass cuts in and the music progresses. I would sum it up as this... brilliant tunes to get you moving, whether it be motivating yourself to clean up or just get dancing/ready to go and hit the town. This is one mega album that you just can't go wrong with.

Being a die hard metal fan i bought this album for the obvious (the deftones, rage against the machine and monster magnet) but was pleasantly surprised to find that the rest of the album was just as good. The best song on there is still rage against the machine but it is closely followed by the propelor heads! If u r normally not in to this sort of music but love the film, it is a must have!!!!!!!!!

This is definitely the best sound track I have ever heard with great sounds like Rob D's 'clubbed to death' and the propellerheads 'Spybreak!'which will remain as one of my well played songs for a long time! A definate buy as the songs are too good to miss!
