Product Description

Product Description

The first CD erupts into full-on festival party mayhem. This is jaw dropping, peak-time party music from the very off and again builds into the crescendo of noise that Mark is so well known for. Using elements of techno, hard trance and hardstyle, this is a sound that stops people in their tracks and staples them to the nearest bass-bin. With Mark playing at some of the main big UK/European Festivals again this year (Dance Valley for both days, Ground Zero, Creamfields, Colours, also WEMF(Canada)), this is typical of what will get people screaming. And scream they shall.

The second CD on the album takes the harder edge of the techno sound and flips it on its head. The pace begins on a comfortable level, maintaining a cunning minimal funk but drawing you into the manic overload that ensues. A barrage of tight industrial percussion aims straight for the face, as some of the top European techno artists and best homegrown UK talent take center stage. There is no let up until finally a tough crescendo of UK based acid follows. This is tough, heads-down music that will leave the discerning dance floor in pieces.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre for the hardstyle fans 11 Aug 2006
Format:Audio CD
Being a big fan of hardstyle and a big fan of the nuttiest dj on the planet, Mark EG, I was really looking forward to MFAHG 4. With it being Tidy who were releasing the album, I had some fears that they might be too "safe", but then I rememebered how they let yoji go off on one in MFAHG 2 and Mark EG has been given full control of the tune selection, so I wasn't too worried. I now wonder just how much freedom Mark had with his tune selection.

Unfortunately my fears were justified. There's no doubting that the first 5 tracks of cd1 are masterful, pure genius. Phenomenal blending and mixing of tunes, that build seemlessly to a superb dark crescendo, peaking at the awesome Uberdruck- Turntable Junky. Its a fantastic start, then it all goes samey. Apart from a few excellent tracks here and there, the mix does nothing to push the hardstyle boundaries and show the public what this music is capable of. Hardstyle is designed to be mindblowingly hard at its best, but Mark Eg's selection is just too sophisticated, too safe and in the end gets a bit boring.

The mix is still worth a listen and if you're new to hardstyle, you could well be blown away by it. Being a huge hardstyle fan myself, I was waiting for a proper psychotic stomping tune to come on and it never happened. I would expect at least 5 extremely hard tunes out of 21. If I'm generous, there's probably only 1 or 2. Its a showcase of the more sophisticated side of hardstyle, but Mark EG has forgotten about the core element of the scene. Craziness. Best tracks: DJ Hellraiser- acid noir, Uberdruck- Turntable Junky, DJ Slideout- bloody Pimp, Tommy Pulse- Creep, Deep Forces- harder, N-Traxx- No hagas El Indio

CD2 is all Hard techno. Very dark, very hard but a little repetitive for my tastes.

I have to agree with the other review, as this is definately lacking the hard vibe. If you are into hardstyle, I suggest the Pharmacy series

4.0 out of 5 stars Music for a harder generation 30 Aug 2009
Format:Audio CD
I'm a big Mark EG fan, always going to see him at the clubs when he's down. Most Mark EG fans will know it's hard to get any of his stuff on CD, so when I saw this I just had to get it.

Disc 1 - No where near as hard as he plays in the clubs, he's just in a different league live... But it's still got some good hard bassy beats. I like pretty much every track on it, really good stuff!

Disc 2 - Well... It's his techno style on this disc. Pretty mellowed down... Not my cup of tea but there are still a few good tracks on it!

Would still recommend this though! :)

This is an awesome album. If you like hard Tech-Trance I strongly recommend you pick up this two disc CD. I have seen this guy live and he is as good on CD as he is live.
