5.0 out of 5 stars The basic textbook, 17 July 2008

(REAL NAME)
Peter Bailey's book from 1986 relaunched in a way the study of the Music Hall, with an approach which owes a lot to marxism, in that it insists on the importance of music hall as a form consumed essentially by dominated classes, ordinary people, and frequently considered as problematic by the cultural elite.

The different chapters take each an aspect of music hall to explore.
