By Mr. Warren M. Fisher VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
The booming opening chords of this work promises Glass at his best, and while the rest of the tracks fail to register as powerfully this is still more than noteworthy. Reminiscent of his soundtracks for 'The Secret Agent' and 'The Hours' (while not quite matching his classic work on 'Koyaanisqatsi' and 'Mishima'), this perfectly blends Glass's trademark chords and arpeggios with the harmonic freedom of his mature work. Lyrical, potent and ultimately haunting, this is a must for all Glass fans and a more than passable introduction to his work.

Not value for money 16 Mar 2007
Format:Audio CD
Great opening theme, but the remaining tracks are not up for re-listening unless you're a diehard Glass fan. If you want a complete Glass soundtrack album that can be listened to, then go for The Hours or Anima Mundi.

Excellent Movie Score 11 Mar 2009
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Anyone who has seen and enjoyed the film as I did will enjoy this too. The music has a mystical and slightly hypnotic quality which suited the film perfectly and stands up on its own just as well. Gets more interesting with repeated listenings. I've sometimes found Philip Glass a bit repetative but these pieces are never boring or irritating. Arrangements and performances are professional and well executed. Definitely on my list of top ten favorite music scores. And if you havn't seen the film buy that as well and you'll be in for a real treat.
