4.0 out of 5 stars A sound edition to your collection 3 Aug 2002
Format:Audio CD
"Music From Doctor Who" initally seems like a offputting disc. After all, what interest lies in a CD of incidental music?

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the mix of styles and themes included with this release. There are four different arrangements of the Doctor Who theme, the first is a tradiational working of the theme with the TARDIS sound laid over it, the second is the opening and closing theme of the McCoy era, the third is the 1980's Peter Howell version and the last is Dominic Glynn's version from "The Trial of a Timelord".

The remainder of the tracks come from the Sylvester McCoy era of the show and from the stories "Time and the Rani", "Paradise Towers", "Delta and the Bannermen" and "Rememberance of the Daleks"

The themes from Rememberance are especially memorable due to the "Ring-a-Ring of Roses" melody laid over the top, "Paradise Towers" tracks are gentle and more relaxed, sounding more like the sort of tracks you'd expect to hear in a lift, however they are untrusive and relaxing. "Delta and the Bannermen"'s tracks are more action based and are fast and punchy while "Time and the Rani" has a more oriental feel to some of the tracks.

Of course, one of, if not the best theme tunes of all time is treated to full length rearrangements covering all the eighties.

In general, a worthly and sound addition to your collection, especially at such a low price.
