5.0 out of 5 stars This is an excellent resource for Music students, 17 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This music dictionary is clear and contains many good explanations of musical terms. As a music teacher I recommend this to my students - especially GCSE and above. The illustrations and msuical examples are a great bonus, and the pupils find these helpful. Of particular use is the timeline at the back with composer dates.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent ! It has served me well up to G6 with the ABRSM., 10 Mar 2006
By A Customer
This book is a little gem. I bought it when i was still at high school, for my music class (about 5-6yrs ago). Going through my music theory and piano lessons it has been an excellent book - small, and you can easily carry it around with you.
Only now, as I'm getting more advanced into music, am I looking around for a big, thick, hardback. This book covers more than the basics - there is lots of diagrams and pictures - which i love. Getting more advanced now i'll give an example of where it fails to deliver eg. False relations - this is an english terminology, the American word for it (they always have to be different) is cross relations - it is not in the book.
I came out of an exam really worried as i'd never come across it before - I got even more worried when i couldn't find it in this dictionary. I went to my teacher's house and i left her house kicking myself as i knew what False relations were.
The bottom line is this is an excellent book i highly recommend it but if you're already at a high level of music (about G5) then buy another book.

5.0 out of 5 stars exactly what it says!, 28 Oct 2009
By Webbsy (South Wales) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Music Dictionary (Paperback)
A great dictionary of probably every musical term you can think of. It's easy to use - you can look things up easily. Purchased this for my son's music course and, though it's early on in the course, he's already found it a help.
