This is a very well designed book, beautiful to look at and comprehensive in its coverage. Its pocket size makes it ask to be picked up frequently. Unfortunately, like "Louvre", the other book in the same series, the English translation is somewhat quirky. This spoilt the pleasure of reading somewhat but the design, superb images and layout make it a book I shall keep picking up!

I purchased this volume for a trip with a school party (GCSE & A level) that included the Musée d'Orsay and the Louvre.
The book, although weighty, is ideally shaped to live in a handbag, manbag, or even a roomy pocket (although in that case, get the Louvre one as well and balance yourself so as not to look like Quasimodo...).
The pictures are clear, the notes are superb, and I certainly wouldn't have been without it. Hundreds of pictures, hundreds of pages. All for £7 or so. Brilliant.

Comprehensive, in a small package

I am sure it was difficult for the author to select what to share, and what to leave out, but this book gives a very nice overview of the museum. The layout of the book is convenient (according to history, and locations of various works). The book looks small, but it is heavy! So, it may not be one to pack in your bag for your trip to Paris, but it will do very nicely at acclimating you to the museum, and being a lovely reminder for later.
