Review

"I lost 18 lbs and gained 30 lbs on my chest press and 20 lbs on my curls. I look better than I did when I ran 5 miles a day in cross country in high school."

-Michael Berger (Amazon Verified Purchase)

"I read these books and followed them and my lifts all went up at least 20lbs in 3 weeks."

-Aaron (Amazon Verified Purchase)

-Mark Robinson (Amazon Verified Purchase)

"A great book with a ton of information all backed by scientific studies. If you think you know all you need to know about lifting, get this book, it will surprise you what he proves and disproves!"

-"skitsy" (Amazon Reviewer)

"Easy to follow and made sense. Breaks down all the crap we hear on a daily basis. Getting fit can seem so frustrating and difficult and he does a great job of breaking it down and making it so easy."

-prstapleton (Amazon Verified Purchase)

"It's always great to have so many concerns and claims laid to rest and it's really quite liberating to find a resource that actually backs up the text with credible research rather than just echoing what a distant blogger also said."

-Gabe (Amazon Verified Purchase)

"Everyone should read this book before they embark on their fitness/weight loss campaign, because chances are that half of what you are doing is a waste of your time, and some of what you are doing is even counter-productive."

-Paul (Amazon Verified Purchase)

"This book takes everything you need to know about getting into the best shape of your life, and simplifies it for anyone."

I have 4 books from michael, this one is the best. Sad part is that I come across this title accidently and ordered it, just to know that how many hours I have wasted in all these years I have been working out. I am 35 years old and I am in best shape of my life but If I would have read this book, lets say 10 years ago, I would have been in far better shape and with much less efforts. I feel like Mike is talking about me in many of the myths. For instance, I was on a plateau for weights in all exercises, with Mike's tip I broke out in one day and I am increasing weights every time I workout a muscle group. I got it on the weekend and read the whole book overnight and I am following the tips like a religion. Every person who goes to a gym must read it, even non gym goers will get some concepts and bravado BS cleared in their heads. READ THIS BOOK IT WILL GET YOU TO GOALS ALOT SOONER!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you haven't read BLS by Mike Matthews already, I would advise starting there, and then moving onto this book, which goes onto dispelling some of the countless myths and hearsay regarding exercise and nutrition and supplements.
I honestly thought I had a fair bit of knowledge after 10 years of training in gyms, but these two books set me straight.

They are most effective because they fall back on the scientific research done with people in clinical test groups and athletes to support their guidance, and because the information is presented in a user friendly format you don't need a medical dictionary to get this up to date information straight into your work out programme and nutrition plan.

Something else, I had a small number of queries about this system, and have emailed the author Mike several times.
In all cases he has got back to me within about 48hrs with advice, and I found that there is a bit of a community out there set up by him via his website, that will pretty much answer any question you can come up with.

No more plodding along, losing time in gyms and wasting money on ineffective supplements. This one is the real deal and belongs on your bookshelf!

Its a necessity if you want to lead a healthy lifestyle. Doesnt cut corners like those many magazines out there. Can not thank Michael enough . Looking forward to what else Michael produces. 5 star all the way.

I bought this right after reading Thinner Leaner Stronger (TLS) by Michael Matthews. There is some repetition if you read them together because each is designed to be a stand alone book and he brings into both the most important myths and points. I really like his no nonsense approach. I would definitely read TLS or Bigger Leaner Stronger (men's version) first. Then go onto Muscle Myths to consolidate your learning.

This is a great book and If new to body building or fitness in general I would highly recommend reading it, before you get sucked into the myths of the body. Michael is brutally honest about a range of subjects and even myself who is an experienced lifter have come to realise I have been caught out by some of these. Top read an well worth a buy

Bro Science is the devil! so many people just make stuff up! Its a terrible industry fulled with supplements, bull**** and egos. In reality, building muscle and losing fat is really simple.

Muscle Myths is one of my favourite books, simply because it uses real world science and experiments to disprove all the things we think we know. I hit the gym with confidence knowing I'm doing everything right from diet to training, and nothing is wasted, all thanks to this book. I also loved reading Bigger, Leaner, Stronger which really got me onto the right track!

Thanks Mike!

I have been a gym goer for many, many years and I see all these mistakes and I have made some of them myself. But you can not argue against scientifically proven facts and the tried tested methods that show results. I enjoyed reading this and I could laugh where I recognised my own mistakes. Thank you for pointing out the myths and making me think about my own programs.

An Excellent book detailing some fundamentals of training and getting in shape as well as discussing some of the B.S flying about. I can honestly say I've learned a great deal from this book. Being somewhat academic it was excellent to see some scientific research to support the authors views. Overall a thoroughly good read which I will keep handy for reference.
