A fitting tribute to many of the great motor sport legends, this book gives a great synopsis of the best, from Enzo Ferrari to Stirling Moss, Damon Hill, Michael Schumacher and many more. With delightful photographs and a detailed synopsis of the careers of each driver, Murray has completed a fine book that is a wonder to read. A must have for every motor sport enthusiast!

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than average 17 Feb 2004
Format:Hardcover
The book has a couple of page long profiles of around twenty of the leading drivers. The book is designed to support his television programme. The section about circuits and other important figures in formula one is again insightful. The book is written in an enthusiastic style and Simon Taylor has cleverly mimicked the enthusiasm of Murray Walker.
It is a good start to learn about the history of the sport and the individual profiles are a good starting base to select the biographies for individual drivers. The 'Hereos' holds few surprises, but is well written and full of clear photographs which may have not been seen by many.
Recommended, but there are better books available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best F1 book ever 30 Nov 2009
By Mr H
Format:Paperback
Great book. A joy to read. Something every F1 fan should have on the coffee table. Written with knowledge and passion. You may not agree with all Murray's choices, however, he argues a strong case for their inclusion. In fact if you couldn't argue why someone else should have been included the book wouldn't be as much fun.

As you would expect from Murray his opinions are unbiased.

Superbly written, well constructed book. Loved it!
