Product Description

Review

'Murray Walker's Formula One Heroes is a collaboration with long-time motor racing journalist Simon Taylor and profiles the drivers that have a special place in the commentator's heart. It presents a comprehensive description of their achievements and their personalities both in and out of the cockpit. Juan Manuel Fangio, Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Niki Lauda, Damon Hill; they're all here. Although all the individual profiles are vastly different, they share one common theme. When you read them you know they are written by a person has spent a lot of time with the drivers and has seen many sides of their personalities and got to know them on a personal level. At #20.00 it's a bargain because you know its accurate and the considered opinion of a motor racing expert.' -- Motoring News

'What really sets this book apart are the warm tributes to his friends behind the scenes.' -- Autosport

'a must, not just for the coffee table, but merits a permanent place at your bedside.' -- F1 News

'an essential buy for motorsport enthusiasts.' -- London Evening Standard --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

A fitting tribute to many of the great motor sport legends, this book gives a great synopsis of the best, from Enzo Ferrari to Stirling Moss, Damon Hill, Michael Schumacher and many more. With delightful photographs and a detailed synopsis of the careers of each driver, Murray has completed a fine book that is a wonder to read. A must have for every motor sport enthusiast!

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than average 17 Feb 2004
Format:Hardcover
The book has a couple of page long profiles of around twenty of the leading drivers. The book is designed to support his television programme. The section about circuits and other important figures in formula one is again insightful. The book is written in an enthusiastic style and Simon Taylor has cleverly mimicked the enthusiasm of Murray Walker.
It is a good start to learn about the history of the sport and the individual profiles are a good starting base to select the biographies for individual drivers. The 'Hereos' holds few surprises, but is well written and full of clear photographs which may have not been seen by many.
Recommended, but there are better books available.

This book is book that any Formula One fan would love, it contains some of the best text and comments on the sport that I have ever read, and of course it's written by the famous Murray Walker himself. I agree that some of these heroes of his are heroes of mine aswel like Sterling Moss, Graham Hill and many others. it contains past and present drivers all the way up to the present day's Michael Shumacher. This book also contains some of the most dramatic and exciting action and incedents I that have happened throughout the world of sport. With history of every driver and of Murray this is a read for everybody.
