The story to this game is brilliant and a very fresh idea: As suggested by the game title and tag-line, you're a recently murdered cop trying to solve your own murder.

The deeper story is that a serial killer is stalking Salem - and you are their latest (though accidental) victim, brutally moidered in the course of hunting them down.
Along the main plot are a stack of side-stories; predominantly ghostly encounters of the recently and not so recently deceased, who's own deaths you're given the option to solve.

The side-quests only make for a mildly entertaining distraction however, from what is ultimately a very slow paced, repetitive, and basically dull game.
The novelty of possession, influencing, mind reading and walking through walls rapidly wears off and it becomes incredibly difficult to care about the protagonist - or really be all that bothered about playing it through. Its more of a relief than a satisfaction to be done with it.

Its a shame, because as mentioned, its a fascinating premise and very clever story. The plot isn't one of these overly insane twisting chaotic jobs - more a clever progression to an interesting conclusion; But the actual game-play should've been far more polished and engaging than it ended up being.

Particular high points for me;
The story itself. For some it will be predictable but I thought it was great.
Decent enough graphics; basic, not as polished as many other recent releases, but in no way game spoiling.
The demons are actually pretty cool (a line-of-sight enemy who chases after you if they catch sight of you)

Low points;
Extremely repetitive
So, SO unbelievably slow moving.

Murdered: Soul Suspect follows the story of Ronan a cop who has an unfortunate end at the hands of a serial killer and comes back as a ghost who can't move on until he solves his unfinished business. Set in Salem famous for the witch trials the premise of the game sounded very promising and coming from Square Enix I expected big things. In reality It wasn't bad but it was nothing spectacular. If it were to be compared to any game it was kind of like a cross between L.A. Noire and Heavy Rain with added ghosts but unfortunately it doesn't live up to the epicness of those two games, while the story was engaging and the characters likeable the downfall comes from the fact that it is a little too easy you don't seem to see enough of the dementor like demons which are easily dispatched and don't appear to respawn, also the game gets a bit repetitive, if you tend to appreciate the story more than the gameplay then this is for you if you like more action then it's ok for you to give this one a miss

I enjoyed the game and the concept behind it. Parts of it I found genuinely creepy. I thought the story was good with a clever denouement. Things I didn't like - some of the clues you had to solve were so obvious I got it wrong because I thought it can't be that... Also once you finish you can't (I couldn't anyway) go back and look around the town to find some of the trophies I'd missed. Would like to see the concept repeated in a second outing.

The game is good. But would of like to see more freeplay and there to be more action involved with the character in terms of fighting compared with strategy.

Not a bad game just not great. Lots of nice ideas but becomes a bit stale after a while. Interesting but a missed chance for something new.

Murdered: Soul Suspect has an interesting premise, you play a recently deceased detective's ghost and have to solve your own murder. You have all the prerequisite ghostly abilities you'd expect; walking through walls, possessing people, causing small electrical appliances to come to life unexpectedly. It's just all put together in a very clunky way.

You can only walk through interior walls, and even then there are "ghost walls" that are impenetrable. Possessing people is only interesting when possessing certain key characters, all non essential people wandering the streets and buildings have only two thoughts that you can read. They add a bit of life to the setting but are totally irrelevant. The thing with the electricals is almost entirely a gimmick.

The story is quite good but it's very slow paced. Side quests are dull and there are so many collectables that you could spend over an hour of your life just reading the descriptions. Once you have finished the game there is absolutely no replay value.

Graphics look good when you are stood still but when you're on the move, especially in the free roam area of Salem town, the action can grind to a halt with great frequency. It's annoying and not something I expect from a game when I've installed it on my hard drive.

The soundtrack is suitably eerie but it's very repetitive

Not much combat in the game, I bought it for this reason, but even the small amount there is gets frustrating as the "hide" function doesn't really do much once you've been spotted.

Overall I didn't particularly enjoy this game.
