This one did not live up to my expectations. I found characters uninteresting and plot did not hold my attention. No where near as good as Ann cleaves usually is. It won.t put me off other books by her.

A good book, I quite like Palmer Jones, But for me not nearly as good as Vera,
,She is the one who has quirky thoughts that find the killer,,
But I could still highly recommend this book if it is your first read,
Ann Cleeves is an excellent story teller and you wont be dissapointed,
Shelagh.

Not sure I would call it paradise, but this is a marvellous painting of a small island and the tiny community that live there. Reader kept in the dark until the very end.

These early novels of ~Ann Cleeves are well worth reading but do not compare to the 'Vera' series. If you can accept this you will enjoys them

I enjoy Ann Cleeves tales and this one did not disappoint. She led me into the atmosphere of an isolated island community. I had no idea who was responsible for the crime until it was revealed.
