Charlie.....Dead? 9 Jan 2012
By M. Dowden HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is the first novel in the Monona Quinn Mystery series. Monona and her husband have moved from Chicago to a small town, where Monona is the editor of the local weekly paper. When Charlie, who runs the local diner dies it is given out that he had been drinking, and had fallen down the stairs. But Monona seems to think he was murdered, and so do others. But who would want to kill Charlie? After all everyone loved Charlie.

Digging up the past of Charlie's life Monona finds out things that have been buried by others, and when someone is arrested for Charlie's death, have the police got it right? Although quite an enjoyable quick read it isn't difficult to work out why Charlie would have been murdered, and it is only a moment after that you have worked out who did it, but this is a nice relatively quick read that gives you a chance to escape the humdrum of life, and think about the secrets that are held in small communities.

Comfortable read 20 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Comfortable read about sums it up. I could not call it action packed, full of twists and turns or say it has an unpredictable ending but it was a nice easy read that did not leave me wondering why I read it. For a free book I really can't complain.

At the beginning I was starting to get a tad annoyed by the books need to describe every item of seating in detail but as I read on I was enjoying looking for the next. Funny how certain things seem to jump out of a book at different people.

The product description is incorrect for this book. The first reviewer, although overly describing the story for me, at least helped me be sure It was actually this book I read.

Murder She Wrote, Except! 10 Jan 2012
By carryon - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This would be a typical story for the Angela Lansbury TV series "Murder She Wrote" except for an embarrassingly out-of-place intimate, description of sexual intercourse between a man and his wife that starts the story off. If you get past this short foray, the story is a mild mystery that is not difficult to figure out. If the story had been written by a novice you might think he was trying to prove he had taken high school sex ed.

Small Town Secrets 16 Jan 2008
By Nancy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
In this very short, quick read book, Charlie the owner of a small town Wisconsin diner and town leader is found dead at the bottom of his basement stairs. The ruling of accidental death doesn't sit well the Monona Quinn, the new editor of the local newspaper. Deciding to do the Nancy Drew thing, she sets out to tie up the loose ends that the sheriff appears to not want to handle. Turns out that it's not that he doesn't want to, he just knows some of the town's secrets. Is it worth destroying the man's good name with the truth? Interesting start to Cook's series.

terrific read 5 Aug 2003
By Sue Roupp - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Sometimes you find a well written exciting book accidentally and reading it is like a gift that you give to yourself. Murder Over Easy is an exciting ride from an experienced writer. In his bio I saw that he was even on Oprah. Marshall Cook is like a cross between Sue Grafton and Elmore Leonard: great stories, great dialogue. This is a book so good that I couldn't put it down.
