1.0 out of 5 stars Awful 17 Sept. 2014
By Lindy
Format:Kindle Edition
One of the worst crime novels I've ever read. There is none of the tension or build up that you would expect from a good murder mystery and it lacks credibility, with its bunch of inept coppers bullying and threatening a wide circle of suspects, none of whom seem to have a convincing motive. Some of the lines of questioning were quite bizarre. Don't waste your time and money.

Couldn't put this book down. Has anyone else heard of this writer? I'm going to look for any more books in the series. Love it when I'm hooked like this...

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok 2 Mar. 2015
By Elaine Tomasso TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
I have mixed feelings about Murder On The Isle Of Arran. Firstly I will confess that although I see Arran most days (from the front in Troon) I've only ever been there twice so I loved the descriptions of the island as they brought back memories for me. I also liked the way Mr Deeley introduced us to all the characters and provided motives for murder before the actual murder. I thought the plot was quite clever and logical in the slow unravelling of facts and information.
There were, however, several things I didn't like. It could do with a good edit - not just spelling, grammar and continuity but plotwise as well. It seemed to me that the author was trying a little too hard with his suspects as almost all of them have extremely murky backgrounds and it seems like overkill. I also felt that the police threat of formal interviews "down the station" was rather repetitive, especially as the interviewee folds every time.
I don't think this is a bad book, maybe just not as good as it could be, and it kept me interested and reading for a few hours.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read 14 Mar. 2013
By Sonya
Format:Kindle Edition
I was attracted to this book because it's set in Arran, I love the island spending most of my holidays there. Mr Deeley brought the island to me,took me to parts of Arran I know well & areas I don't. The murder mystery was good with a wide range of believable characters.
I'm going to search for more of Mr Deeley's books.

4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed this 19 Jun. 2014

If you have ever been to Arran, this is a good read. If you love Arran, this is a must for you. If you don't know Arran at all, this will spark your interest. Living as I do on the south west coast of Scotland, Arran has always been on my see view, and I have visited a few times. So, it was lovely to go on a kind of murder/mystery tour. I love a good who-dun-it, and this one had me guessing to the end.
