"A Murder Close To Home" is the second in the series of Eve Duncan Murder Mysteries by Julia Underwood. Underwood captures the atmosphere of war-torn London magnificently in this well-researched novel, which serves as a backdrop for her entertaining and enjoyable murder mystery.
Once again, the protagonist is Eve Duncan, a strong young woman who is assisting the police who are short staffed due to the War effort. She is assisted by her best friend Charlie, "a wide boy." Other characters from the previous book are her boyfriend Pete and loyal dog Jake. Underwood's character development is second-to-none, and I could well imagine these books making an excellent television series.
I look forward to reading further Eve Duncan novels. They are easy to read and highly entertaining.
