Product Description

Christmas and the Sanford Third Age Club are living it up at the Regency Hotel. But on a snowy Christmas morning, there’s murder afoot, and it’s up to Joe, Sheila and Brenda to find the killer

There are so many questions to answer.

How much hatred flows round the hotel, what game is Jennifer playing, what is the meaning of the cryptic pictogram found near the victim, how does a long lost penny fit into it all and how many times will Joe have to search the hotel dustbins?

For the Yorkshire sleuths, it’s a taxing mystery, marinated in a yuletide party atmosphere.

“The story is, as usual, excellent. I’ve come to expect nothing less, and this one didn’t disappoint.” Marit Meredith, Editor-in-Chief, The Pages Ezine.

A Satisfying Read 31 Dec 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
The Sanford Third Age Club are spending Christmas at the Regency Hotel. When another guest - belonging to the Leodensian Historical Society - is found murdered and one of the STAC members is the number one suspect, sleuths Joe, Sheila and Brenda have to dig deep to find the answer.

The premise for A Murder for Christmas is a missing rare coin and, like all the best whodunits, the pages are peopled with likely and not-so-likely characters who have a reason to see the back of the victim.

Filled with all the usual STAC mystery and humour, this entertaining story will satisfy long after the turkey and Christmas pudding have been eaten.

This is the third book flying under the STAC Investigates colours, that I have had the pleasure to read.

This time around, we find Joe, Brenda, Sheila and the rest of the Sanford Third Age Club taking a festive break at the Regency Hotel in Leeds. Also in attendance are members of the Leodensian Historical Society.

When one of the Leodensian members is found murdered in her hotel room, the finger of suspicion appears to fall firmly in the direction of STAC member and all round 'Ladies Man' George Robson, last seen heading out of the party together.

George is arrested and spends time in the custody of West Yorkshire CID. As usual, Joe and his partners in crime (solving) are having none of it and determine to prove George's innocence.

Joe's investigations unearth some conflicting information about the victim and the plethora of suspects she has left in her wake. What does her murder have to do with the Middleton Penny, a missing rare coin? Where is that missing laptop and just which one of her former suitors did the deed?

What I really like about this book is, that in addition to all the usual banter and humour, David Robinson has extended the length and we also get to see a little more of Joe's character, a little of his tender underbelly that is usually kept well hidden behind his outwardly grumpy, spendthrift persona.

Well worth a read.
