Review

This exciting British detective novel which combines dyke sleuthing and love is an excellent first effort. -- The Pink Paper, March 3, 1995

From the Author

I grew up in Coventry but now live in Cornwall. One rainy afternoon in Coventry, myself and two friends were talking when one of them suggested we ought to try and invent a game. I said I wouldn't have a clue where to start, so we agreed that they'd invent the game and I could write a book. I've always been interested in antiques and collectables and having spent several happy years in the trade, it seemed the natural thing to do, to use this grounding as a basis for the story. In writing this book, what I've tried to achieve is a slice of light-hearted escapism with a likeable, easy-going main character, who encounters her fair share of adventure, danger and lesbian hanky-panky along the way. I do hope you enjoy it. Incidentally, about the game, no dice I'm afraid.

4.0 out of 5 stars A gripping and entertaining read 3 Jun 2001
By A Customer
'Murder in Black and White' is a classic lesbian detective novel. Ronnie's greatest threat at the outset is her mother's wish to marry her off but after a chance meeting with the suicidal beauty Stephanie her quiet life is turned upside down. Stephanie's business partner, Tom White has been murdered and Stephanie is the prime suspect. Can Ronnie persuade her old friend, Police Inspector Angie Lewis of Stephanie's innocence, can Ronnie herself be sure? Torn between her loyalties to Angie and her attraction to the beautiful Stephanie, Ronnie embarks on a race against time to get to the bottom of this murder and prove Stephanie's innocence. Ronnie is the sort of girl you would hope to meet in a time of crisis although she herself would rather be at home with a cup of tea.
A gripping and entertaining read that is both thrilling and fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb lesbian whodunnit 2 April 2001
By A Customer
For me this book was a pleasure to read. Ms Currall's style of writing made it enjoyable from beginning to end and I really liked the key character, she's got a sense of humour but she's sensitive and a bit vulnerable at the same time. She's also pretty good in bed too! There's not that many characters in the book, which personally I liked because I was able to keep track of who was who, but it still kept me guessing to the end. If I had to find fault, the cover's a bit plain but in my opinion it's a cracking little lesbian whodunnit and well worth reading. Definitely not one to be judged by its cover!

I thought it was brilliant - a very good read, it held my attention from start to finish. Witty, clever writing style, a good strong plot. When's the sequel coming out?

A Ronnie Carlton Mystery.

Ex-police woman Ronnie Carlton investigates the murder of Tom White, an antique dealer in Stratford-upon-Avon.

A witty and fast-moving tale of murder, intrigue and lesbian romance set in the heart of England - Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon.

"I opened my eyes with a jolt. I was in a hot sweat. Working out that I'd fallen asleep on the sofa was the easy bit. But why was it so damned hot and claustrophobic in here?

More to the point, what day was it? Sunday, I suddenly remembered. Then, it all came flooding back. Stratford. The River. A drowning woman called Stephanie. A woman whose business partner had been murdered. And she was here, just down the hall... in my bed. Oh boy!"
