Muppets: The Green album follows in the footsteps created by Nightmare Revisited and Almost Alice where contemporary artists put their unique sound to memorable Disney franchises.
12 classic Muppets songs like: It's Not Easy Being Green, Muppets Show Theme, Rainbow Connection are performed by rock and alternative artists such as The Fray, OK-GO, Weezer and My Morning Jacket.
The album is an incredible collection of some today's artists covering many of the classic Muppets tunes. Artists on the album include: Weezer, Haley Williams (of Paramore), Amy Lee (Evanescence) , My Morning Jacket, Andrew Bird, The Fray, Alkaline Trio, Airborne Toxic Event, and Billy Martin of Good Charlotte.

Format:Audio CD
When I was a lot younger I used to own a gatefold vinyl version of the Muppets Album. In fact I owned the second album as well. For a young fan like me they were items I treasured. So when I heard about a tribute album I was in. Like most tribute albums there are a few bands you know and those you don't. Like most tribute albums some tracks are just the same but with a different band and some are different and new versions. Like most tribute albums it makes you want to reach for the originals.
Highlights on this one are The Fray's Mahna Mahna. Its still one of the most annoyingly catchy songs ever and is a totally faithful rendition. You will be humming this for a while afterwards - it just lodges in your brain. Sondre Lerche gives a good rendition of Mr Bassman - slight down tempo from the original. Alkaline Trio though probably snatch the honours here with their rather wonderful version of Moving Right Along - its upbeat and just more rocky. Andrew Bird also gives a quite wonderful version of Bein' Green - but it sounds like a lot of his work.
Overall it is a good effort. Nothing stands out as downright awful and whilst nothing is ground breaking its enjoyable and fun - exactly what it should be. I just wish I could find my original vinyl gatefold.

All of the tracks are worth listening to, and there are only one or two that I think are alright: the rest being great. I've discovered a few new bands whose work I might look into from listening to this, and I'd recommend it to anybody who's fond of The Muppets, and generally interested in music.

I am not at all impressed with this album. Not 1 song represents the original production and some take some listening to to work out they were an originall Muppet great.

This is an absolutly brilliant album. Although I didn't recognise some of the artists I did recognise the songs. I can listen to this album again and again. Read more
