Book Description

'Kiss boys two times after I have gone'

'Please teach the boys to say what they mean'

'Mummy loved orange Club biscuits, jam and jelly and lemon curd'

On her deathbed, Kate Greene's only concern was for her two little boys, Reef and Finn, and her loving husband, Singe. She knew she'd be leaving them behind very soon.

Over her last few days, Kate created Mum's List. The couple talked and cried together as she wrote her thoughts and wishes down, trying to help the man she loved create the best life for their boys after she was gone.

It wasn't the first time Singe and Kate had faced the spectre of death. Four years earlier, doctors discovered a large lump in baby Reef 's abdomen. Kate, pregnant with Finn, was so distressed that she gave birth dangerously early. Both boys pulled through, but afterwards Kate received the diagnosis that every woman dreads . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read 1 Mar. 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I had read an interview that Singe Greene gave sometime last year and was pleased to hear that he had written their story. I ordered this book on Monday - received Tuesday morning - read it by Tuesday evening. I am not ashamed to admit that I cried all the way through. Even though the story is extremely moving the way that it is told is amazing. I cannot recommend it enough. I have already lent my copy out and have ordered another for my mum.
I have just watched his interview on 'this morning' and cried all over again. Please read this book it was brilliant .

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspiring read 9 Mar. 2012
Format:Paperback
A beautifully written book that I read in one sitting. Once i'd read the first page I couldn't put it down. The story is beautifully written and shows the horrific journey through cancer that so many people will be able to identify with.
The story is so well told and really made me evaluate what is important in my life and what I would want for my husband and daughter if anything were ever to happen to me.
An inspirational story of love and courage that I can't recomment highly enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars An opportunity to look at your own life 14 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I ordered this book and began reading despite telling myself it was too hardcore for me. I literally downloaded and started reading without thinking after several days of telling my friends there was no way I was reading it! Such a sad an in depth story about a young mother of two boys that found a lump in her breast. I got 85% of the way through before thinking to myself 'isn't it about time you started checking yourself?' I hopped in the shower that night and was truly mortified to find I had a lump in my own breast. All rationale went clean out of the window and being Easter weekend with no doctors around for 4 days spent the entire 4 days beside myself with worry until the doctors opened on Tuesday morning. I am seeing the specialist Tue coming and am praying to god that everything is ok.
Obviously I can't finish the book, it's given me the fear! I urge any woman before embarking upon this poignant story to thoroughly check their breasts before proceeding. Because if you do find anything be it a cyst, fat tissue or gid forbid anything more sinister, the journey of panic and worry that it will take you is truly horrific.

4.0 out of 5 stars very good read 9 April 2012
By Gilly
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I couldnt wait to read this book, and i really felt moved by the story, i have lost friends myself to cancer who have left children behind with their husbands, and i can only imagine how these kids feel.
I think that this lady lead an amazing life on earth, and enjoyed life to the full, even when she became ill she still wanted to do things. I do feel she made a lot of effort even though so ill.
I thought it was a bit more of a story than an autobigraphy though, but very well written.
My friends never got the chance to do many things like this lady. The boys will have great memories of a great mum, god bless them all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Try and read in 1 go without crying..impossible! 18 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is definately the best book I have read for a very long time. Unfortuantely since having kids I blub at anything so I can only read this book at weekends as the tearful look in not to be done on the tube.

The book is so well written and made me feel as though I was there experiencing everything with Singe and the boys. It also makes you think about your life and how time is so precious with your loved ones and to live each day to the max!

Just need to finish it now but cant seem to read more than a couple of pages without crying my eyes out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mums List 21 April 2013
By Sherbs
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Bought this having seen the interview with Singe on This Morning. It's the kind of book I would choose to read and I really really wanted to like it....

But something bothers me about this book and I'm not quite sure what it is. I don't know if it's the fact that it seems to repeat itself rather a lot, or that the actual List seems to get a bit lost amidst the story about Singe himself. It just all seems a bit self indulgent. That sounds horrible - the poor man is grieving, but that's just the way it came across and whilst I wanted to be sympathetic and full of admiration for what Singe was doing, I really struggled. I felt like the main theme - Kate's List, got lost. A huge shame.

That's not to say it's all bad - it isn't. I did my fair share of crying, especially at the beginning and the tales of Kate herself, her great spirit and love for life are inspiring, interesting and heartwarming. But as the book progresses, the chapters get long and a bit boring in places and there is just too much self pity, to the point of irritating.

Gutted I didn't like it more.

5.0 out of 5 stars unputdownable read 3 April 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
What an awful experience for one family to go through, and yet Singe and Kate packed so much into their life together, that it must make everyone think just go for it, and make each day a good one. She must have been a remarkable lady, and Singe a geat husband, and the boys have turned out a treat. I know that all the family obviously miss her very much, but she will certainly never be forgotten. I wish them all the good health and happiness they deserve.

5.0 out of 5 stars Have your tissues handy. 16 April 2012
By Jules86
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book was fantastic. I really enjoyed reading about Singe and the boys and how they adapted to life without Kate. i cried throughout this book, sometimes because it was sad but most of the time because it was so inspiring and I was so happy reading about the boys and their important milestones.
I have alot of admiration for both Kate and Singe and I think Kate was so selfless till the end. I am sure she would be so proud of all her boys.
