I have been buying these calendars for four or five years now. I have looked at many similar ones, but none has the same space as this one for writing in. There are five columns, the first of which is headed "Mum" and the rest of which are blank, allowing for four other family members. I only have three other family members and use the final column for general info. such as birthdays, vet appointments etc.
Each box is approx. 1.5cm high by 4cm wide, allowing you to fit in more than one appointment per day, which for me is the problem with all the other calendars of this type, which only give you a narrow single line for your appoinment. When hung, the overall length of the calendar (not including the drop-down storage pocket) is about 60cm.
I have just received my 2010/2011 calendar, having pre-ordered it in May, and the fact that it runs from August 2010 to December 2011 has allowed me to fill in my next dental check-up in February and family get-togethers already arranged for next spring, knowing that I won't forget or double-book. I also have school term dates up to summer 2011, so it's great to be able to put them down now for planning ahead. I would much rather sort out next year's calendar now, than in December or January when I am so busy with Christmas and New Year things. Before I started buying these calendars I always felt as though my life fell of the edge of a cliff at the end of December and I often didn't find time to complete the new year's calendar until February, risking missing something. The overlap in dates gives me a smooth transition from one year to the next and I can still look ahead six months in the latter part of the year.
The calendar comes with two sheets of stickers, some of which are US biased, e.g. "Vacation" and "Camp". There is also a magnetic phone list which I never use myself, but could be a handy place to put your commonly used numbers. The calendar shows US, UK (including Scotland, where they differ), Australian and NZ public holidays, other events such as mother's day (UK, Aus and NZ), Chinese New Year, passover, etc.
If you have a busy family and want to be organised, this is the best calendar for the job.
