5.0 out of 5 stars Best yet from Cathy Glass 11 Oct 2010
By Robert
Format:Paperback
The latest book from Cathy Glass tells about Reece who comes from a dysfunctional family and has been through four sets of foster carers in a month. When he arrives he is completely out of control, running around, making a great deal of noise and bumping into everything and everyone. Cathy quickly finds methods to modify his behaviour so that at home he is nearly normal. Because of his behaviour and lack of focus by Social Services Reece has not been to school for many months. Eventually a judge sends him to a school whose headmaster resents his presence. Suddenly his behaviour deteriorates rapidly. I was horrified at the way Reece's headmaster fought all the way to get him removed from the school. If Cathy could handle him why couldn't the school? The book goes into considerable detail about the procedures for handling an `in care' child and the various meetings with the relevant agencies. The book is very enjoyable, of interest to the general public and to practitioners in the field. Cathy speaks from years of experience and professional knowledge.
Another winner from Cathy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mummy told me not to tell 4 Jan 2011

I really enjoyed this book. I was myself a foster carer a few years ago and could relate to Cathy's experiences. Cathy comes across as a very knowledgable and strong women and worked hard with Reece, the boy she fostered. It was great that the book had a haapy ending for Reece as I know that this is not always the case.
I will definately read other books Cathy has written.

If a bit of a horrific read. Cathy is a remarkable woman and has made me consider being a foster carer. Couldn't put this book down. I truly hope Reece is happy wherever he is
