This is a beautiful book. I have always been a fan of Sendak but didn't know about this book until seeing it in a commercial bookshop at an inflated price. The quality of the illustrations and pop ups are stunning.... and thrilling for a young child. This pop up book really does pop up with each page an explosion of fantastic illustrations which leap out of the page. No-one could be disappointed by this gem of a children's book. It would also be a good buy to anyone with an interest in the mechanics of pop up as there is so much going on, on every single page. Buy it and love it.

This is one of those a-typical Sendak works....odd, mind bending ideas through pictures, amazing construction went into creating this pop-up book. Really good for 5 yrs olds upwards. You could really spin spookey stories around the illustrations and concept structures. So, overall a good book to get, especially as a collector's piece. But this Sendak is unusual like his Outside Over there........
