Book Description

A harrowing true story told by two brothers who were abused by their mother

Product Description

My brother Patrick remembers my first beating, of which I assume I was completely unaware. He was just five years old when he watched our mother punching herself again and again in her pregnant stomach while shouting at the top of her voice, 'I don't want this fucking child!'

Ken and Patrick Doyle grew up in a family of nine children. For sixteen years their home was a place of suffering. Behind the doors of their ordinary, three-bedroomed house they were subjected to deprivation, cruelty and humiliation at the hands of the one person who should have loved and protected them - their own mother.

Starved, savagely beaten, locked up for days on end and sent out to steal, their story is a catalogue of abuse. Yet, despite numerous official reports of abuse from social workers and health boards, their suffering continued ...

In Mummy from Hell, the victims tell the horrifying true story of their childhood and how they survived it.

A must read 29 July 2011

As with all books about child abuse, you have to wonder what makes people do these kind of things, especially the parents. Then to find out in later years that the powers that be knew all along what was happening beggers belief. This is a must read and if you enjoy it, google Kenneth Doyle and read the newspaper reports. This was my holiday read (I know not a nice subject to take on holiday) and I had to find something else to read as I was finished it in no time at all. The reports at the end of the book make interesting reading too. If there has to be negative comments it has to be why did they keep falling for the suggestions from their father?

mummy from hell 24 Dec 2010
Format:Paperback
I feel I have to write something at this precise moment in time!! I have to say, I have only read the first 22 pages of this book and already I hate this woman( who calls herself a mother, she must be having a laugh) Once I have finished reading this (which will probably be tomorrow) as with books like this you cant put them down! I will definately put in another review. To everyone, buy this book!! As I have said I only got to the first 22 pages and I have had to say something, definately a book you cannot put down. How brave these two brothers were, good luck both.
I have finished reading and all I can say is that the mother is sick. She is sadistic, evil, controlling, greedy,i dont need to go on do i ?? Thank god I have never had to face this in my life, I have the best parents in the world. Just a shame that lots of children dont have that.
