After researching similar makes and models I found the Ekit Multi-function In Desk Hub better value for money than the bigger brands offer and very impressed with the overall quality.

It can be used in most office desks that already have a cable tidy with a 60mm diameter cut-out. A hole saw should do the job if your desk does not have this but be aware the Ekit plastic sleeve has small external ridges which I found require a slightly larger cut-out to fit.

The hub itself is well made and I am thrilled with the arrangement of the three USB 2.0 ports, flash card readers plus the added bonus of microphone and headphone sockets which make cable management a little less cumbersome. The blue LED helps in dim light conditions to see all the ports but is not overpowering and the cable pass through is large enough for my mouse, keyboard and still leaves room for several other devices.

I have no use for the MS card reader, only MMC, SD and MicroSD cards therefore I can see a dummy card being used in time to fill the gap. As far as MicroSD cards go I have tested a mixture of older cards and a newer JoyFlash 16GB HC Class 10 card all working flawlessly. PQI 1GB MMC card worked without any problems as did some older SD cards that I have tested.

As a non-powered hub it works very well, the card reader is great, and the form factor is pretty unique. The only fault I can find really is that it has a really, really bright blue led that I found blinding if you look straight at it from above. So bright that it lights up the room at night. I guess this makes it easy to find on the desk! That's my opinion anyway - you might like the light, who knows!

I was harsh giving this item a very low rating, if I had taken the time to read what it actually does, I would not have been so harsh. It is clearly intended to be used as a desktop usb, assuming your desk has a pre drilled hole, then this is ok, if not, then forget it. But it is actually ok, soory for my poor review earlier
