Product Description

Product Description

Bialetti's Mukka Express, the market's first stove-top cappuccino maker, has taken on a whole new look for 2006! Following last year's successful launch of the original and fun, black and white cow print design, Bialetti has opted for sophistication with the introduction of polished aluminium and polished and black aluminium versions.

Italian-based manufacturer Bialetti has been producing stove-top espresso pots since the 1930s and is the name behind the traditional stove-top style of pot, the Moka Express. The Mukka Express is the company's latest innovation and combines this traditional style of coffee maker with a larger size pot for holding the milk.

The Mukka Express works by allowing the steam pressure from creating the coffee to pass through the milk, resulting in froth.

So simple to use for a great cappuccino:

  • Place water in the bottom section to the level indicated
  • Fill the filter basket with ground coffee and twist on the upper section
  • Add milk to the level indicated
  • Close the lid, push down the pressure button which will create the steam
  • Place on the stove, bring to the boil & leave for about a minute after the button has popped up.

For a caffè latte, leave the button in the up position so as not to produce froth.

    Looking for the perfect cappuccino&
The Italians are world experts on coffee and Bialetti undertook extensive research for the Mukka Express. Coffee bars the length and breadth of Italy were visited by its new product development team and samples of cappuccino were analysed to test the optimum strength, flavour, temperature, foam depth and consistency all to ensure that the Mukka Express would produce that perfect cup of Italian cappuccino! The fabulous Mukka Express is a patented design and available exclusively in the UK from hot drinks experts La Cafetière.

  • Product Description

Mukka Express was developed by Bialetti and is the only product which allows you to prepare either a Cappuccino or latte just like the ones at the coffee bar, and is as easy as using a coffee maker.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! 26 Dec 2005
I got one of these for Christmas. It's great!! I use it on a gas cooker. I think getting the heat right is one of the secrets of getting the process of cappucino making to work. By the second attempt it was just great - perfect cappucino! I read somewhere else that the best results were from using semi skimmed milk but I've found that full fat milk is better. The instructions are clear enough I think. The only caveat is to make sure that the valve on the top is fully up if you're not making cappucino... it's quite stiff so give it a good pull to open it fully. Anyway I'd recommend this as a great alternative to bulky cappucino machines.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Clic ClacK Design - Amazing Coffee 21 May 2009
    Verified Purchase
Saw this lovely little machine in an expensive cook shop & decided to "resist" & look on amazon - On here it was 20 less!!
Received my Mukka Express & the Box has "New Clic Clack" design written on it which refers to the base & pot slotting together. Cant say I can hear a "clic clack" but I have certainly had NO trouble what so ever slotting it together like the other reviewers have mentioned.

Cant understand what all the problems are that others have had - I have found it VERY EASY TO USE to use from the word go & I can honestly say that the coffee has been the BEST I've ever had. (I've used Illy Expresso but I did try my normal filter coffee choice & it worked with that too)
Ive found it VERY EASY TO CLEAN, just filled the pot with cold water as soon as its been poured & rinsed it out with warm water later - no big deal (I've found it less messy than a caffetiere)
I was a bit wary of how I would know when my cappucino was ready as it says it makes a "puff" sound - well that sound is very pronounced & easily understood - the valve pops up as well, Ive tended to leave it a few seconds longer so that the milk is really hot. Very occassionally it Puffs & pops the valve up way too early & if poured its cold but I have learnt that since It takes exactly 4 minutes like it says it does its obvious if its too early, so just push the valve back down again & it works just fine.
Other moans people had was coffee getting stuck in the seals etc & stopping it sealing properly - I found if you fill the filter with coffee BEFORE placing it into the base by holding the "stalk" , that way any stray coffee does not go on the pot - I also use a small teaspoon for this rather than my coffee measure which is larger.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best kitchen gadget, ever 1 Dec 2006
I love this machine. I've had it for about 3 months now, and it's used every day. The only thing you have to beware of is that you must make sure that the two halves are screwed firmly together, otherwise you get hot espresso all over your stove!

I would recommend this to anyone. It doesn't take up a valuable power point, it's easy to clean, looks good, and the best and cheapest cappacino there is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but uses a lot of milk! 7 July 2010
I'm a fan of traditional Moka pots, having a 3-cup Bialetti already. When I saw the Mukka Express and imagined having fresh cappuccinos every morning instead, I was pretty much sold on getting one right away.

The cappuccinos are decent, but I wish there were a way to use less milk while making them. I feel like there's not very much coffee output and tons of milk--I've been tempted several times to use both coffee makers at the same time and then add the coffee from the Moka pot to the Mukka's cappuccino!

Also, the frothing feature doesn't always seem to froth up the milk properly--not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if maybe I'm not using the right type of milk (but I doubt that since I always buy 4% or greater whole milk).

I've cut back on my daily use of the Mukka Express for the above reasons and bring it out generally only on weekends, and that's only if I can be bothered. It's a great concept, but it just doesn't seem to be producing the results with a consistency that is comparable to the fine cup of coffee my Moka pot makes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Persistence Pays 2 Feb 2012
    Verified Purchase
Having read somewhat mixed reviews for this product I was wary. So with this in mind I searched for the best price which Amazon provided at under 40. Initial results were mixed, it didn't always froth the milk and when it did results varied. Having assured myself that I'd followed the instructions to the letter I persisted and my Mukka now performs well.
Do not expect coffee shop results, their machines cost thousands after all. For the money I paid the coffee produced is fine and I would recommend this product at the right price (I've seen it at over 80!). Quality of build is good and the design is great although assembly and unscrewing the base after use is a little awkward. Gives you a large mug or two small cups.
A few tips: Read and re-read the instructions; clean immediately after each use; keep on the heat for 20 seconds after frothing to ensure hot coffee; be persistent.

5.0 out of 5 stars brilliant coffee 1 Jan 2007
Have just got one of these for Christmas - best present for ages! Makes the coffee really well. Just don't try to add too much coffee and don't use very coarse ground. You need to use expresso, and add water and milk to correct marks. If you leave it on the heat for another minute after it's done, it's piping hot too. Easy to clean if you fill it with water as sson as you've poured out the coffee. If you love cappucino, buy this machine, you won't regret it!
