A superb collection of the early TV series and a must for anyone like me with nostalgia for the early years of children's TV.
20 very good condition full episodes on two discs of the original B&W series with Annette Mills at the piano and a neat little booklet on the history and background of Muffin and his friends, including Annette and the Hogarth Puppets creators Jan Bussell and his wife Ann Hogarth who, of course, brought life to Muffin and Co.
There are also 3 Bonus Features on Disc 2. One is of Muffin's World Tour, which IS as described a home movie and as such is quite boring (Muffin "meeting the natives" in various unexplained countries around the world) that I tired of quite quickly. A unique early colour episode of Muffin in cut-out form a la Captain Pugwash, which was certainly worth a look and finally, A REAL GEM, Muffin meets Sooty from the BBC vaults, which is absolutely superb with Harry Corbett and Sooty at their funniest!! I had forgotten just how very clever and funny Harry Corbett was and it is a shame that the BBC are reluctant to issue any of these on their own DVD, but I believe it maybe something to do with `the brand' being sold by Matthew (not quite up to his Dad's standard!) Corbett to some media conglomerate. Shame really...........................
