Luckily for us Naxos appear to be a company that is willing to cover some of the lesser known composers in their "Organ Encyclopedia" series,so on we go.
On this CD we have the follow on to his greatest work the " Apparatus musico-organisticus" from vol:1.So the final four of the great work is here for us to enjoy and enjoy it you will.but Naxos were not happy to just give us that, added on to them we have his Ciacona,Passacaglia and Nova Cyclopeias Harmonica..
So do I think Muffat to be"at the height" of German Music? No I do not, he was not a J.S.Bach nor a Dietrich Buxtehude even so his works presented here are of a high standard and a joy to hear.Should you buy it I suppose is the main question?well it is beautifully played by Martin Haselbock this time on the Zwettl Collegiate Chuch Organ,Austria, and as such a fine addition to any collection.
