I bought this book for a 9 year old boy I know who has recently lost his mother. I think the book is absolutely fantastic in dealing with such sensitive issues as grief and loss. My profession is in Child Therapy and Counselling and I plan to use many of the ideas in the book with other children I see in my work - in particular the 'friendship bracelet' and the 'emotions volcano'. The book is incredibly simple to use and is set out so that the child can work through it with someone they trust in about 6 hour long sessions (or however long they can concentrate for). At the end of each session, there is a fun activity page to be done together. I also like the idea '5 minutes more' where the child can talk about what they would like to say if they had 5 more minutes with their loved one - they can write it down and tie it to a helium balloon and release it - extremely therapeutic! Overall the best creative book I've seen for helping a young person through a loss - highly recommended!!

I got this book to help a friend with a child who was grieving for a best friend (7yrs old). I had difficulty finding something that did not take a religious viewpoint but gave room for the child to express themselves and a practical way in which the parent or older sibling can be a part of. It was well received and did help.

Exactly what the doctor ordered
Lovely book and was just what was needed when I was struggling to re explain death to my daughter, we enjoyed filling in the pages, and is a lovely memory to keep.
