Whether the kid you get this for is your own, currently living in the UK, or for someone travelling to London from another part of the country or even abroad, this is a great, fun play book for them. It's colourful, and has short rhymes introducing famous parts of London to young readers. I've reviewed the Muddle series before, and they never fail to amaze my little house visitors. With 17 fun magnets ranging from famous places of interest like the Tower of London and the London Eye - to her royal highness, the Queen, this book is fun, educational and has some wonderful illustrations to really catch kids eyes and encourage imaginative play. Would suit young children (over 36 months because some of the pieces are small) and would make a great accompaniment to a child's day trip to London as they travel towards their destination looking forward to and learning about the sights of which lay ahead of them. There's even a couple of pages for them to place their favourite places and people of interest at the back. In addition, the book lays out flat for ease of play and clips together with a carry handle making it look like a little suitcase for curious minds. Easy to carry around with them during a trip to London. I love it, and so do all my little friends.

My reception-aged son loves going on regular trips to London and has a deep regard for magnetic books (as did I until I kept finding the flipping things littered around the house!) so this play book is ideal for him. Unfortunately he's a little heavy-handed and has already cracked the guard's box magnet holder, but I'm glad that the book contained this - many don't! His favourite page is the double-page spread of the map of London which includes the river, roads and an underground station - he loves to drive the double decker bus and underground along the various thoroughfares. The places of interest also excite him and he loved matching the magnets with their respective landmarks.

The benefits of this book are the colourful images and the ability to improve fine motor skills. It also encourages creativity by providing pictorial clues to stimulate a child's imagination.

The downsides of this book are that it's a bit too short - at a mere eight pages long I don't think it reaches the full potential of learning. The RRP is a little expensive too, especially if your child is a bit faddy, like mine is.

In conclusion: a good book and my son loves it. I'd suggest it's appeal would suit the 3-5 age range.

It takes hard work to ensure you don't lose any of the magnets, but this does not detract from what is essentially a lovely book for young children- I would suggest age three and upwards. It is not only fun, but helps them to learn sme quite interesting little details about our capital city. The illustrations are fun and just right for small kids and it's nice that you can carry it around by the magic of a handy handle! However, again, it's just keeping the magnets safe- once they're gone, it does make the book far less interesting and though you can store them in the plactic case, they can slip out. However, overall, really lovely and a treat for small children!

I got this for my 2 & 3 year olds and they loved it, it kept them busy for ages. They especially liked all the transport magnets like the tube train, taxi and bus. I find magnet books really good as they tend to last longer than sticker books as the magnets can be reused and repositioned much more times. I think this would be good from age 2 up to around 7, both boys and girls.
We have another magnet book from this same 'Muddle' brand and I have found the quality is good; the books are strong cardboard and the magnets are very easy to get in and out by sliding open one piece in the front cover. (Some other brands are a bit more fiddly.) The magnets are not extremely thick so they will get bent if children are rough with them but still should last quite a while.
I really liked the London theme of this book. We live in London so thought its good for children to learn about their own city, but it would also be really ideal for any children going on holiday or a trip to London as it has magnets of all the different landmarks as well as the London transports and characters like policemen and even the Queen. The whole thing is really well made with bright designs and I found it really cute.
It has various activities in it like matching the magnets to pictures on the page, filling in a weekly schedule of London activities, putting pictures on postcards, and a map page showing train track, road and river to play with the transport magnets, which was my children's favorite page.
I would really recommend this.

Like other of the books in the series we have had this is a really nicely made book with magnets cleverly stored in the cover and easily taken out from a sliding panel on the first page. There are 4 double pages in all and 17 magnets. The magnets stick to the pages well and are nicely made - I particularly like the mini Queen and there are also a good range of realistically drawn London highlights from Beefeaters to the London Eye.

This book is really aimed at a child who is going to go to or has been to London and some pages work better than others. The first page is a week planner - probably a concept beyond your average 3-4 year old who is going to get most out of this book. My kids like the page where you could place the vehicles on rail, road or river more and there's an attractive and Geographically correct map with silhouettes for placing landmarks on - this is a good match up and discussion activity. The final page also provides scope for interaction with your child - it's a summary of where you went on your trip.

I would have liked to see a few more magnets included as those included are limited and only really represent a fraction of what London has to offer and it is obviously a short book. That said it's nice to see London represented so nicely and I think children do like these durable magnetic play books. As a souvenir or something to do on the journey to London this is a nice idea.
