5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific 27 July 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is facsimile of the first album I ever bought (with some bonus tracks). I played it to death (I think I still have it somewhere). With hindsight, I wish Mud had done more of their own material even though they did sort of lose their way when they were doing that. This is good fun nevertheless, I hope they release Mud Rock but I don't know what they'll do for bonus tracks (unless there's some unreleased material in the archive)

5.0 out of 5 stars My first ever album 1 April 2011
By I. H. C. Mellor VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was the first LP I ever purchased when it came out, in 1974 (I think it was). I was a great fan of Mud in the 70s and this was a long awaited album. Now 37 years later it sounds as good as it did then, kicking off with 'Rocket'. The only thing I never really understood then and still do not understand is why they needed 'Jeffery' to make a daft introduction at the beginning and an even stranger comment at the end, along with the 'party' sounds. I think this was a bit of an experiment, which has not been repeated. Still that aside it is a great album filled with both covers and Chinn Chapman compositions. There is also the bonus of some very interesting 'B' Sides at the end of the album, which were not on the original LP.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Great Party Album but... 20 Jun 2011
By RH
Format:Audio CD
The problem I have with this release is if you are a fan of Mud then you most likely already have all the tracks. Mud Rock was originally released by EMI as a Double CD with Mud Rock II and the Bonus tracks can be found on the excellent A's, B's & Rarities Compilation that incidentally also includes the complete versions of Dyna-Mite, Tiger Feet & The Cat Crept In which only appear as a Medley on this album. I never understood why they did this at the time and I still don't. The previous reviewer referred to the party sounds that can be heard throughout the album. My theory on this is Mud were classed as a good time party band and the party noises were actually first heard in the middle section of Tiger Feet and I believe its just a continuation of this sound to give the whole album a good time party feel. As for "Jeffrey" who can also be heard on the album, I found his inclusion slightly irritating and pointless and still do, sorry Jeffrey.
