Product Description

Product Description

'Mud, Blood and Beer' is another beautifully crafted album of classic punk and alternative songs loving reimagined by The Bad Shepherds in their distinctive folk style. Featuring re-workings of classics such as Madness' Our House, The Jam's Going Underground and a fabulous rendition of No More Heroes by The Stranglers, this is by far the most accomplished and diverse Bad Shepherds album to date. This is also the first album to feature original Bad Shepherds material. The lyrics to title track, Mud Blood & Beer was penned by Ade as a homage to all the festivals the band have performed at. The closing track, Off To The Beer Tent, is a furious jig written by the band, which showcases (All-Ireland Fiddle Champion) Andy Dinan and (Nightwish collaborator) Troy Donckley's world-class musical talents. Recorded at Chapel Studios, South Thoresby, Lincolnshire, Mud, Blood & Beer was Produced by Ade and Troy, Engineered by Euan Davies (Arctic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs) and Mastered by Denis Blackham (The Unthanks, Martin Carthy and Bombay Motorcycle Club).

Another good effort by the group, I thought the novelty would have worn off by the third CD but it hasn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another excellent offering! 28 Oct 2013
Format:MP3 Download|Verified Purchase
Apart from Ade's iffy start to Our House, another excellent album from the Bad Shepherds. Mud Blood & Beer takes you right back to punk's heyday and the rest of the album is simply beautiful! Who'd have thought punk songs could be described as beautiful but they simply are!

At first I didn't think this was as good as the previous two albums, but it's growing on me all the time. Great music, played well and makes you want to listen again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok Album 22 Sep 2013
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Having already purchased the previous 2 albums, I was looking forward to this new offering.

In my opinion (and that of my wife's), is that, while ok, is not as good as the 2 previous offerings.

a "2" player I'm afraid and now consigned to the back of the drawer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous stuff.....
A fantastic album, only dropping a star because:
1. The earlier albums are probably a bit better; and
2. It's nowhere near as good as seeing them live!

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not as good as his earlier recordings.
Clever concept but the choice of music isn't generally to my taste. Ade has dismissed his earlier recordings, but I prefer them. Read more
