Book Description

Molly Parker is a DWAG – a darts wife and girlfriend. Or rather, she’s an ex-DWAG after divorcing Paul “Bad Lad” Parker, a professional darts player and the self-pronounced Geordie pantomime villain of the sport, after catching him aiming more than his arrows in the direction of more than a few very willing glamour models.
So, leaving her life – and her ex-husband - behind in their native North East of England, she moves to the Canarian island of Tenerife with her best friend Fran, putting the past behind her, determined to start a whole new life abroad.
Within months of arriving on the island she finds herself engaged to her Spanish boyfriend Antonio – a handsome Canarian bar owner - and with their whirlwind wedding just weeks away she’s the happiest she’s been in a long time with a great job at a Timeshare complex, fantastic friends, and a lovely little home in a country she’s fallen completely in love with.
But what Molly didn’t bank on was her ex-husband turning up out of the blue declaring his undying love for her and begging her to come back to him - and not just because his darts were suffering! His unannounced arrival turns Molly’s new and seemingly perfect life upside down as she suddenly has to face up to feelings she’d thought were long gone, and make decisions she never thought she’d have to make as her whole world is thrown into total confusion. Does she stay in Tenerife and marry her wonderful, romantic, drop-dead-gorgeous Spanish fiancé? Or does she give the man she’d once loved but who’d treated her so badly another chance? Days in the sun or darts – it’s the choice she has to make. Throw in a Bolton-born lounge singer and a Take That tribute act, a famous TV actor with a reputation as a shameless flirt, and a major darts tournament that throws up more than it’s fair share of surprises, and all of a sudden Molly Parker’s life really is ‘Too Much Trouble in Paradise’ – a romantic comedy; a story of new beginnings, second chances, sun, sea - and darts!

Michelle Betham is also the author of the epic, two-decade-spanning Hollywood romance 'No Matter What' and the follow-up 'Illusions of Love', the edgy and sexy rock 'n' roll romance 'See You At The Show', the romantic comedy 'Bon Voyage', sexy soccer romances 'Striker' and 'Extra Time' and a short Christmas novella 'The First Christmas Without You', her first book published through Harper Impulse.

More About the Author

Michelle Betham is an ex-media technician turned author of hot, edgy, gritty romance, usually involving rock stars, sports stars, and bikers. But not usually all in the same book. Yet. She is both self-published and published through HarperImpulse, a division of HarperCollins Publishers.

Addicted to binge-watching TV dramas she struggles to think of a life before Netflix, loves rock music, tattoos, spicy food, and Keanu Reeves - a crush that's lasted over twenty years, and one she blames entirely on 'Point Break'...

Her dream is to ride a Harley. And visit Las Vegas... And be able to eat any amount of chocolate without putting on weight...

She lives in County Durham, north-east England, with her husband and West Highland Terrier, where she can be found most days drinking tea and making up stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read! 7 Sept. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This is the second ebook I've read by this author and I'm quickly becoming converted to reading in this format!

This was another great story - I wasn't sure it would be my cup of tea as I thought it would be all about darts which isn't my thing at all (sorry Michelle!!) but it isn't.

There are lots of twists and turns to the plot, with lots of humour along the way and a whole bunch of very likeable characters.

This book is very definitely worth a read!

I can't believe this author hasn't been snapped up by a publisher yet - I'll definitely be buying her third book and am looking forward to more books from Michelle in the future.

3.0 out of 5 stars Much to like...except the characters! 18 Aug. 2012
By Mezley
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Written in a catchy, narrative style, this was fun read. However, the main protagonist, Molly, is such a self centred and thoughtless cow that I really didn't care what she did, as she flitted between Antonio (God knows why he puts up with her) and Paul (an equally unlikeable scroat). The supporting characters of Fran, Simon and others were similarly unbelievable. But it kept me engaged, whiled away a few hours on the beach, just a shame the cast weren't more likeable, because otherwise, I'd be looking out for more from this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars A giggle in the sun! 28 Aug. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
If you're feeling down with the British weather, download a copy of this book and buy yourself a ray of sunshine. Great characters and absolutely brilliant dialogue which flows throughout. You are constantly left wondering how the poor love-torn Molly will end up but you are swept to the conclusion before you know it. Great Northern humour and fantastic girly friendships. Oh and let's not forget the totally GORGEOUS Antonio - not a lot of those about! This book should have been snapped up by a publisher. I can also see the author doing well with sitcoms. A great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another cracking read 2 Nov. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this book, the characters are so real I felt as if I knew them and laughed and cried along with them. Great humour and you really feel for poor Molly. Only trouble in paradise I found was that the book was over so soon!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A perfect beach read! 15 Jun. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got this eBook when it was available as a free download from Amazon.

From the outset the descriptions of Tenerife made me feel warm which was perfect seeing as it was a cold, rainy day outside my window.

Molly and Fran moved to Tenerife for a fresh start, they made some lovely new friends and seemed to enjoy their new lives. Molly was even engaged to a gorgeous Spanish man who treated her like a princess but for some reason she couldn't get her cheating ex-husband out of her mind. When he arrived in Tenerife it threatened everything she had built for herself since she left him and I was yelling at my Kindle wanting her to be strong and tell him where to go!

I found myself getting annoyed with Molly when she was going back and forth trying to make her mind up - it irritated me that she would treat Antonio (her Spanish fiancé) in that way because I liked him, he was much more understanding than he should have been. Clearly I disliked Paul (her ex-husband) although there were a few times when he did something that made me warm to him a bit.

Darts is really not my thing but I actually found it all completely fascinating to read about, my husband often watches darts on TV and this gave me a behind the scenes insight which I enjoyed. It was the same with the timeshares - I found myself really intrigued by it all!

This book was like reading a soap, there were so many ups and downs, some that were predictable and some that really weren't. I just had to keep reading to find out what would happen next and which way Molly would decide to go.

If I'm honest I would have preferred a different ending, even though it was quite romantic I had just hoped for something else.

This is a sunny, enjoyable read, perfect for the beach!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Right Good Read! 23 Sept. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Don't let the idea of darts put you off; this is a fab, funny read. The character interactions are great and well-rounded and although I'm not a Geordie myself I found the North-East style humour hilarious and endearing. Molly's a likeable character, and I found myself rooting for her and hoping that she would make the right decision in the end. This is the second book I've read from this author and I can't wait to start reading her next offering.

3.0 out of 5 stars An okay-ish read! 9 Nov. 2013
By Zoe
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Molly is a DWAG (Darts Wives And Girlfriends) or a now ex-DWAG after divorcing her sleezeball ex- husband Paul "Bad Boy" Parker after finding out about hs string of affairs. She wants to forget about him, so along with her fellow, divorcee, best friend Fran they both head to the island of Tenerife where she meets and falls in love with Antonio but Paul isn't going to let her go quite so easily.

I don't know quite what to make of this story.. I enjoyed it up to chapter seven and I enjoyed the last couple of chapters but the ones in between just seemed so dry and kind of long winded. The characters seemed quite obtuse, in my opinion, and every other damn paragraph Molly kept mentioning her ex-husband which got old VERY quickly. I can't say the story gripped my attention and made me want to keep reading and I did have moments where I was questioning why I was still reading it. The story was very predictable as you could guess what was going to happen next, I hate books like that it just ruins it all.. The description of Tenerife though made me so wish I could have been transported there, it just sounded so warm and inviting.

I wish I could have rated this more but I just don't think it deserved more than the three stars I gave it.. I'm sure there's somebody out there who adores chick-lit that would just love this story but it just wasn't for me..
