This Film " Much Too Shy" Made in 1941 in Black & White is truly a fine example
of the very High Quality Film Footage shot in those days, despite wartime limitations
it is a true credit to the motion picture industry.

The Artist George Formby , Kathleen Harrison & Jimmy Clitheroe being at their best
in this well made British Movie. Eric Frith 'MALTA'

3.0 out of 5 stars Formby and foolishness 25 May 2011

I am not a great Formby fan and have sometimes struggled with the notion that he was the best paid Brit performer in the war years. Perhaps the plucky determination of the ordinary chap, plugging away and winning the girl was what filled the bill for the British nation in those difficult years. I wanted to see Jimmy Clitheroe who, although in his early 20s, plays the part of a 14 year old boy--and he does it well so much so that I wondered why he was not more often cast in films during the decade of the 1940s.

I don't think this is Formby at his best although there is at least one really good song and it is always good to see those great Brit stalwarts going for it (Kathleen Harrison,Charles Hawtrey, Joss Ambler etc)in films that most of us have forgotten.

A must for Formby addicts and a gentle reminder for those who fondly remember THe Clitheroe Kid.
