Easy to read whodunit 28 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book is the second in the Mrs Pargeter series, and although in my opinion not quite as good as the 1st novel (A nice class of corpse) it is still a good read. Mrs Pargerter is a 60+ year old woman whose late husband was a crook from whom she learnt a lot about crime. With a list of contacts from her late husband she manages to solve the riddle of a missing couple. It moves along fairly fast and is set in a middle class quite 'estate' in south east England.

Excellent murder mystery. It starts with a murder in a house in Smithy's Loam
a development of six executive homes. And guess who is just about to move
into the very house, yes Mrs. Pargeter. I found this hard to put down.
Simon Brett at his best.

Mrs Pargeter buys a house on a small estate but becomes concerned about the fate of the previous owners.
Quite pleasant murder mystery (written around 30yrs ago) but,I felt, rather unconvincing. Reasonably priced on Kindle , but beware! - the following books in the series are more expensive yet no different in content!
