Product Description

Product Description

An autobiography of Ian Wright, the British footballer who shot to prominence in 1985 when he joined Crystal Palace from Greenwich Borough Services. Six years later he joined Arsenal, and has been the club's top goal-scorer every season since.

From the Back Cover

Ian Wright is one of the most popular yet controversial figures in world football. At the age of 33 and in the prime of his career, Arsenal's record-breaking goalscorer continues to dominate the sporting headlines with his exploits both on and off the pitch.

In his autobiographical blockbuster, Wright recalls all the triumphs and set-backs during his rise from a confident South-London teenager to a multi-million pound favourite with the Highbury faithful. His forthright views on players and managers such as Paul Merson, Tony Adams, Graham Taylor, Terry Venables and Arsene Wenger make for stirring entertainment.

A new chapter specially written for this paperback edition looks at how Wright fought back from his disillusionment at the start of the 1996/97 campaign to rediscover his goalscoring form for Arsenal which lead to an England recall.

Ian Wright is one of the most popular yet controversial figures in world football, but still remembers his roots well. In this honest and frank autobiography he tells of his time serving at Her Majesty's Hotel, and what he really thought of other characters in the game. With emotional detail he talks of how he handed in his transfer request at the lowest point of his career. At times you are just amazed at his honesty, he admits and holds his hands up when he has done something wrong, but if he feels he is right he will do something he regrets in the future...

An entertaining read, for fans and rivals alike.
