5.0 out of 5 stars Mr Wolf's mischief, children laugh at his silly antics, 3 Oct 2003
Mr Wolf's Week is a brightly decorated book, with simple & large print words, literally about what Mr Wolf does on each day of the week. Mr Wolf is a friendly (slightly dopey) looking wolf with a different outfit for each day of the week, and a different activity to match the outfit (Monday's are rainy - umbrellas, wellies; Sunday's are hot - shorts & sunglasses).

What makes the book captivating, for my nephew certainly, is that the alternating double-pages have a brightly coloured comic strip of Mr Wolf and his antics: he goes ice-skating on a frozen pond, fishes through a hole in the pond, whereupon a polar bear chases him off the pond, Mr Wolf escapes the polar bear by climbing through a hollow tree trunk and the polar bear gets stuck in it!

On these comic strip pages the words are brief and do not cover what the pictures say so the book helps young children to comprehend the story by looking at the pictures. It's a pleasure to hear my nephew apply his imagination in 'bringing' the comic strip section to life - not that the cartoons need much help as they are hilarious all by themselves.

4.0 out of 5 stars A lovely book for small children!, 24 Aug 2001
This book is a lovely look at different types of weather as well as days of the week and the concept of keeping a diary. The pictures are bright, simple and eyecatching, and Mr Wolf is portrayed as tubby and non-threatening.

(If you are a KS1 teacher, as well as the obvious links to weekdays and weather, you can use the story as a base for a six or seven week dance scheme, where children splash in puddles and move carefully in the fog etc.)

A super book for sharing and discussing, which will quickly become a favourite with most children.
