Since the autumn we've had a semi-feral cat staying in our garden. We had a little makeshift shelter for her, but we were worried it wasn't going to provide her with enough protection against the elements in winter, so we decided to go for this model of shelter having looked at several.
Having read some of the reviews here I was worried about the entrance size, but our kitty is fine with it (she is a small cat though, but I would say that the average sized cat would have no problem getting in or out of this shelter).
The shelter is made from molded plastic, so there are no joins that let rain in and the entrance has a hooded recess to provide extra wind/rain shelter. I lined it with a foam camping mat with a reflective coating on one side - cut to size, to go around the walls for extra insulation, then added a bed of hay.
We also use a Snugglesafe heat pad inside it, but ***be warned*** that, due to the size of the entrance, you need to trim a bit of the molding away from the entrance (the entrance has a thinner one inch 'lip' which can be trimmed with a strong cutting implement (scissors, shears, etc) to get the Snugglesafe pad into the shelter. We didn't need to cut the whole 'lip' away, just a 2 inch wedge of it.
Our little girl was reluctant to use the shelter at first as she was so used to the makeshift shelter we'd cobbled together for her, but during last week's wild, windy, rainy conditions our makeshift job sprang a leak and she was soon using the Mr Snuggs shelter. She is now using it permanently and is loving it!
I'd have given the shelter 5 stars but it does need a little tweaking to make it truly winter-proof (ie: lining with foam/fleece/or other appropriate material for use exclusively ourdoors - and the trimming of the entrance if wanting to use a Snugglesafe heat pad for extra warmth), so I have given it 4. It *IS* a brilliant shelter and I am so glad we invested in it for our girl, knowing she'll be warm, safe and dry all winter :-)
