Mr Saturday Night is more than alright!!,

The first time I heard Julian Velard's music was when he was the support act at a concert I was attending. He had only performed a couple of songs when he told the crowd he had an EP on sale at the merchandise stand. I instantly knew I had to go and buy it there and then because I liked what I heard and I was worried it would sell out! I knew then that he had a bright future ahead of him.I'm delighted he has released a new album. I really hope that he is finally going to achieve the level of success he deserves because he's a talented songwriter and musician. 'Mr Saturday Night' really offers something for everyone. All the tracks are performed in Julian's own unique style. He makes the kind of music that makes you feel good and brings a smile to your face. You just have to listen to the lyrics of the opening track, 'Me And My Mirror On A Saturday Night' for this to happen. I can imagine the song 'Sentimental' being used in a movie soundtrack. I highly recommend this album - give it a listen and discover why 'Mr Saturday Night' is more than alright!

It's challenging to write an unbiased review when already a fan, but when something is this good, I feel obliged to state the obvious!There is something you need to know before you listen to Mr Saturday Night, the new album from Julian Velard. This piano player from NYC isn't your run of the mill singer-songwriter guy. And he loves movies and musicals. With that in mind, his new CD, released tomorrow, is described as `classic piano pop with a Broadway makeover.' There is a definite theatrical flavour running throughout the album as Velard drags 70's pop bang up-to-date. Listening to it is like a different story unfolding everytime as you embark on a journey with Mr Saturday Night, a character Julian has adopted as his alter ego. The quirky up-tempo tracks are cheerful and guaranteed to get your feet tapping. The ballads are classics in the making, especially Sentimental, one of my favourites. After two weeks of playing the album on repeat, I am still really excited about it. That's got to be a good thing! Regardless of what music you're in to, I recommend you give this a listen. Julian has a candid approach to his songwriting, and with his infectious smile, you can't help but warm to him. From the outset, this record will leave you feeling much better about your day! Mr Velard is one to watch.

I heard Julian Velard for the first time on Smooth Radio while driving;it was one of those exciting, spine-tingling moments when I just had to stop the car and listen, properly! Couldn't wait to find out more about this hugely talented singer/songwriter and when I saw the new album, jsut had to have it. Eagerly anticipated, it did not disappoint in any way and I have been playing it virtually non-stop (much to my husband's chagrin)while dancing around our small living room ever since. The songs are well-crafted in a trditional way, reminding you of the Rat Pack crossed with Ben Folds (one of my favourite performers)- style, substance, clever lyrics which capture the middle class (aspirational) zeitgeist and strong melodies. Excellent.
