Product Description

Leslie Nielsen brings befuddled cartoon character Mr Magoo to life in this slapstick comedy. Near-sighted millionaire Quincy Magoo has just hosted a benefit at a local museum housing a precious ruby when the gem is stolen by a pair of thieves, Leseur (Kelly Lynch) and Morgan (Nick Chinlund). The villains fall out while escaping on a ferry, however, and the ruby falls into the unwitting Magoo's boat. Leseur now sets out to seduce Magoo in an attempt to retrieve the gem.

Mr Magoo Was a very funny movie one of his best. My children loved it it was far better than Rent a kid in whitch he stared but than not quite as good as wrongfully acused. the effects were good and the way it started and finished as a cartoon was very good i feel it is a very good way to open and close a movie because its fun in its ways to see what animators think of the people in the film. On the whole a very good movie thank you for listening to my veiw.

Very Funny!!! 4 Nov. 2002
By swallow - Published on Amazon.com
Format: DVD
It is indeed very interesting and amusing to see the cartoon Mr. Magoo 'come to life' acted out by non other than the great comedian Leslie Nielsen. I burst out laughing a few times watching this movie, for example, the part when Mr. Magoo was trying to prepare the 'chicken dish' for the lovely but fatal Prunela (Kelly Lynch). He was watching a 'cooking' program when it was changed to an 'aerobics' program and next to a 'carpentary' program. Mr. Magoo as usual being visually impaired, went through all the 'rituals' with his chicken. It was hilarious! Get this movie and laugh your way through with Mr. Magoo from the beginning when the jewel was stolen to the end when he restored it to its rightful place, all the while not realizing the dangers he was in. This is because as in the cartoon, he always walks away smoothly from all harm despite his bad eyesight. This is a wonderful movie for 'tired, sore' eyes!

Mr. Mediocrity 3 Sept. 2011

This is definitely a botched opportunity. The plot involving a stolen jewel is too tedious for adults. It's also too complicated for children to enjoy. Sole redeeming qualities are Leslie Nielsen's game performance as the title character and an effervessant Jennifer Garner in an early role. Doesn't even qualify as a decent waste of time. The late great Jim Backus is probably rolling in his grave.

Mr. Magoo Comes to Life 3 Feb. 2014
By Roy M. Raffield - Published on Amazon.com

In my youth, I remember the Mr. Magoo cartoons, and due to his style of performing, Leslie Nielsen is probably the only actor who could pull this off on the big screen. There also was the inevitable spoof of the competition between the CIA and the FBI, and the movie also managed to parody the international intrigue of many movies. If we were going to identify a heroic character, it would have to be Angus the bulldog, and at times it appeared that Angus was the only character with a lick of sense. Then the scene where Mr. Magoo goes down a ski slope on the backside of an ironing board was hilarious. All in all, those who liked Mr. Magoo cartoons, would find this an entertaining movie.
