This is a wonderful album, and I personally think that it is Julian's finest! It is one of my most played CDs of all time! However, I previously had great difficulty in obtaining a copy on CD, as it has at least at some point been deleted, and therefore unavailable. This makes me wonder whether the album was not successful and, if this is the case, that is a great pity, because it's fantastic! Buy a copy now, in case it becomes unavailable once again!

Julian's first album, 'Valotte' (1984), was a fine effort, but his 1987 follow-up, 'The Secret Value of Daydreaming' was fairly weak. However, Julian is on top form on Mr. Jordan (1989), his song writing is excellent, the band is great, and the production is superb! I especially like John McCurry's and Justin Clayton's guitar work on this album (particularly on the track 'You're the One'), where the arrangements seem really well planned, and work extremely well. 'I Get Up' seems to be Julian's attempt at an Elvis-like song, which is great and a lot of fun. The track 'Mother Mary' uses a bit of cello, and is very Beatle-y. My other favourite tracks are 'Second Time', which features a Peter Frampton guitar solo, and 'I want You to Know', where Julian appears to sing one verse under water! The album finishes with Julian messing about and performing a rendition of 'Johnny Be Good' on the piano.

I would seriously recommend this album!

A brilliant piece of work by Julian Lennon 30 Jun 1999

Mr. Jordan is probably Julian Lennon's most underrated project. I enjoyed it so much, I bought it for my friends. Mother Mary, Sunday Morning and You're The One are truly amazing. I recommend this album very highly to anyone who appreciates great music. I appreciate Julian's work because he writes with feeling and from the heart.

Beatles influence 4 May 2010

I absolutely loved this CD. It has so many songs with hints of Beatles all over it. There is the beautiful song "Mother Mary" which has a hint of "Let it be" by Paul McCartney along with "Make it up to You" which reminds me again of Paul's song"Oh Darling" from the Abbey Road Album. Then there's "Sunday Morning" which has a hint of "Blackbird" from the Beatles White Album. Julian has certainly grown musically since his first debut album "Valotte" and you can't blame him for showing similarities in his music afterall...he grew up around the Beatles and his father John Lennon was such a great influence for anyone. I would highly recommend this to any Beatle fan. Being a musician myself has allowed me to hear the similar melodies from many of the Beatles music in what Julian Lennon has composed. I am sure there is more to come.

Mr. Jordan 20 Nov 2005

Julian does well in with this cd. I have recently began to listen to all the Julian cd's I own. As I came around this one "Mr. Jordan," I have to say that is a very undrated cd. The mixing and sound quality are great. "Mother Mary" is amazing among others like "You're The One," "Angillette," "Open Your Eyes," and "Sunday Morning" which is a harmoneously delightful tune. As a whole it is a great effort from Julian...it is unfortunate it did not get the recognition that much of Julian's musical efforts deserve. I have all his cd's and can honestly say that Mr. Jordan is a project where Julian shines with musical maturity.
