Review

"* 'Smooky palooki! This book is well brilliant! Andy Stanton is far too clever and funny and should be locked away in a very dark place that nobody can find.' Jeremy Strong; 'A wickedly entertaining story' Bookseller 'When I read these books aloud, my teen daughters aged 18 and 16 insist on sitting in and listening too. Usually ending up in tears of laughter. The whole family loves Mr Gum - try it, you won't be disappointed.' Bookcrossing Forum 'Thank you, thank you Andy Stanton for adding another book to the amazing tales of Mr Gum.' School Librarian Journal 'They are fantastic...they are brilliant books for adults to read as well...I fully recommend them.' Zoe Ball live on BBC Radio 2"

Product Description

Follow Polly and Friday on another crazy adventure on the streets of Lamonic Bibber. And watch out for that dastardly villain, Mr Gum, not to mention his sidekick, Billy William. It's barking bonkers. But don't believe us, believe them.

madder than ever! 30 May 2010
Format:Paperback
Just when you thought the Mr Gum series couldn't get any better...it does! 'Cherry Tree' is Andy Stanton at his nutty best. I won't try to explain the plot (don't think I could, suffice to say the evil Gum and his best mate Billy, now live atop a cherry tree). All the usual characters are there and our heroes, Polly and Alan Taylor (gingerbread man with electric muscles - told you it was barking!), have to save the day. Cue a series of chapters that are complete madness and full of laugh out loud moments. Truly inspired work Mr Stanton

Wonderful fun 8 Nov 2011
Format:Paperback
We (7 year old, 5 year old and mum/dad) moved on to this after reading the previous 6 Mr Gum books and thoroughly enjoyed it. The quality of the writing is excellent and the humour is offbeat and wonderful. Our 5 year old misses a few of the jokes and references but it is spot on for the older one (and for mum and dad). Very much looking forward to Book 8.

Another Mr Gum hit!
Bought this for my 9 year old who can be fussy about what he'll read. Mr Gum however is without a doubt his favorite. Read more

Mr Gum and the Cherry Tree
This was a present for my Grandson, this is the first set of books that he laughs out loud to, and a book that he reads on his own, as a five year old this is a wonderful start.

Excellent book for a six year old
My six year old loves these books - they are a bit whacky and it doesn't necessarily appear to follow a plot - but for a 6 yr old- that's fine! Read more

'really funny. Mr Gum pretends to be Runtus. But it is not the best in series. Probably the 6th best out of 7.'

This was the usual nonsensical tale that my daughters enjoyed reading.
It was cheapest around & free delivery.

Mr Gum and the Cherry Tree
As this series has progressed the plots have become weaker and, as Book 7 in the series, this is not one of the best but, for my six year old boy, it was still very funny.
