A beautifully written and illustrated book which my three year old loved. Mr Bear tries everything to get his new baby to sleep striking a chord with parents everwhere. Eventually it is the big sister who saves the day and helps the family enjoy a few hours sleep but how does she manage it? Parents and children alike will recognise many familiar elements of having a new baby in the house. We particulary identify with Mr Bear desparate to get some sleep! Look out in the illustrations for lots of familiar items lying around the house eg a book about sleep problems!
Children will immediately identify with the bear family and the night antics resulting out of baby bear's sleeplessness. The wonderful illustrations introduce a host of woodlands friends who are on hand to offer advice and comforters. A humorous and an insightful tale.
I bought this book for my 2 year old son to get him used to the idea of a new baby joining us in the house. It is really well written and illustrated and he selects it himself from his book case time and again. A must for siblings to be everywhere!
I bought this to prepare for the possibility of a new addition to our family and my son likes it well enough, but he seems to prefer 'Mr Bear's Picnic' to this. The story is interesting, well-illustrated and the ending always makes me want to drop of (and want a new baby!)
