Book Description

18 Mar 2010

What happens when you meet Mr Right, then find out that someone's got there first? Do you:

a) bury your feelings, convince yourself that nothing can ever happen between the two of you and try to move on?

Or

b) fail miserably to bury your feelings and repeatedly act like an incompetent fool in front of him?

In Lulu's case, it's a bit of both. When she meets Charles, a handsome and sophisticated actor, he seems like the perfect catch - until she finds out about the wife and children. But when Lulu and Charles end up away on location together, sparks fly and suddenly everything gets complicated...

Lulu tries to confide in Alice, her twin sister and best friend, but she's too distracted by her new relationship with gorgeous but rage-filled Richard. When will she learn that sexy bad boys do not make good boyfriends? And for Lulu, can love conquer all, or is she just a walk-on part in the oldest story in the book?

5.0 out of 5 stars hilarious 18 May 2010
Format:Paperback
funny, clever, characters who you actually start to care about however much you think you should take a moral stance against someone having an affair with a married man. Should be compulsory reading for all those women who think "he'll leave his wife some day"! Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it. Eleanor Moran is an engaging writer who made me laugh out loud and cry more than once. Very much looking forward to her next book. The low reviews are un-just and Ms Moran should be credited for writing a book that goes beyond the usual chick-lit and actually makes the reader think about love in all it's different forms and not just the usual boy meets girl formula.

4.0 out of 5 stars enjoyable read 4 May 2010
Format:Paperback
I enjoyed this book and it actually made me cry so I guess Eleanor certainly engaged my emotions. I wasn't sure I could get into a book where the main story was about an affair with a married man but the ending was satisfying.

We've all heard about the choices of the 30-something - the divorced or dodgy catches that constitute the 'plenty more fish in the sea'. So most women who haven't encountered monsieur right at this age are going to be confronted at some point with the "He's PERFECT!/ He's married..." moment. The author really brings this situation to life - the agonies of finding a soulmate, only to realise someone else has got there before you. Because this is not the usual frothy situation of a chick-lit novel, this isn't necessarily going to be a happily ever after sort of a story...
The book reminded me a bit of Marian Keyes (whose pink-covers enclose plots that dwell on alcoholism, betrayal and even domestic violence) in that Eleanor Moran has taken a dark set-up but with her effervescent style has made it a thoroughly enjoyable read.
