4.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great, 23 Mar 2007

This review is from: Mozart - La clemenza di Tito (Audio CD)
This is from a live performance in Munich (Feb 2006).

Very brisk pace. Vesselina Kasarova's Sesto is as convincing as ever, though not in as good a voice as in the 2 DVDs she's in (Salzburg, and Zurich). She gets better in Act II, though. Veronique Gens was ill at the performance and her Vitellia sounds underpowered and suffers a bit at the Act I trio and 'non piu di fiori', but still very good. Charles Castronovo is a big voiced Tito... a bit big and slow for Act II 'Se all'impero', though gets by otherwise. All the minor roles are well sung.

Very low budget set! No printed libretto, but if you play the 2nd CD on the computer there's an electronic one.
