Quite superb music 7 July 2011
I have to admit that whenever I am doing work round the house such a tidying, dusting, sorting out and so on that a good blast of great classical music dulls the tedium by arousing my interest. When I was having a clear out of my bedroom I had this on in the background one CD after another and the time just flew by.It is stirring, romantic stuff and as such is Mozart at his best. This is real high culture and for those who like to either be distracted from the boredom of housework or who like unwinding in a refined way after work then this is a great album to buy.Mozart's genius was always thought by me to be a given fact - this magnificent work confirms it.The orchestra do a first class job as do the many talented singers.I will not discuss the storyline of the piece as for those who know it better than me it would be inadequate and for those who do not know it well if at all it might ruin a few surprises. But I cannot praise this Album enough and strongly advise cultured people with an eye for a bargain to buy this from Amazon.CO.UK ASAP !

Wonderful Figaro at even 4X the current price! 7 Feb 2012

I simply can't believe the bargain price on this Mackerras reading of Mozart's Figaro. I paid $3.91 plus shipping $
handling $2.98. The tempos are just right and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra & Chorus are wonderful. I wanted a 2nd version of this masterpiece after my Bohm version - and I couldn't be happier! Get it!
