Product Description

Magdalena Kozena's first all-Mozart album - and her first album in collaboration with partner Sir Simon Rattle - stands out as one of the highlights of the Mozart Forever 2006 celebration. Magdalena is a natural Mozart singer, garnering rave reviews and enchanting audiences wherever she performs Mozart onstage. The album is a collection of some of Mozart's finest arias for female voice, and Sir Simon Rattle is the ideal conductor for this project, delicately wrapping Magdalena's voice in the most vivid and sensitive orchestral sound imaginable.

A Mozart recording poised to captivate music lovers and critics worldwide!

3 of 4 people found the following review helpful By Mart TOP 500 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on 2 Jan. 2010
Format: Audio CD
Czech born mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kozena has long been associated with Mozart's music, and her prize winning performance in 1995 at the International Mozart Competition probably marks the start of her successful career.

Released in 2006, Mozart Arias is a selection from the operas Le nozze di Figaro, Cosi fan tutte, La clemenza di Tito and Idomeneo, and it marks Kozena's first release on the Deutsche Grammophon label and her first recording with conductor and partner (they had a child in 2005) Sir Simon Rattle.

Magdalena's style is to sing with an apparent effortlessness ease which belies the technical difficultly of some of these works. It is tender and natural, and it certainly works on this album, occasionally leaning to a more soprano range. Rattle's direction of the soft, warm-sounding period instruments of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment provide a perfect partnership to her simple, dreamy singing.

The original digipak release, a plastic CD jewel case in card folder, contains a 40 page sleeve booklet in English, German and French, with full orchestra names and some quotes by Magdelena.
