Product Description

Moving to Thailand for a year, or to live out the rest of your life in retirement can be an easy and fun transition with the help of this book.

(Book contents updated 6/2011)

After you move to Thailand you'll notice some things:

1. You're not stressed out over all the fear-mongering from the evening news, newspapers, and talk radio in your home country.
2. You don't give a second thought to getting a ticket as you drive.
3. You're eating healthier food than maybe you ever have.
4. There are more things to do in a boring part of Thailand than in some of the best places in your home country.
5. $1,000 USD goes really far!
6. You feel like a completely different person. In fact, you can BE a completely different person.

This moving to Thailand guide covers everything you'd want to know before you move.

This guide also covers ways to make money in Thailand in addition to teaching - which most expats find, works for a while, but not forever.

This is a realistic, and constantly updated guide (6/2011) that will help you ease into the transition of moving from abroad to the land of smiles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative 22 Jan 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've looked at a few 'Moving to Thailand' books on Kindle and most of them look pretty bad from the reviews and so I wasn't expecting too much from this book.

I was very pleasantly surprised though as it was packed full of useful information and well worth the couple of quid that it cost.

It's a medium-sized book which took me a bit more than an hour to read (for affordable Kindle books, this was good - I find I get through a lot of them in under 15 minutes!) As the author promised though, there was no waffle or filler - just useful and informative information on every subject.

As I will be starting a job in Pattaya in a few weeks, I've already made a lot of research but there was still a lot of new information here. As the previous reviewer mentioned, the section on "saving face" was particularly useful, as was the information that Thais can resort to violence if they lose it, and they all help one another out. As someone who 'doesn't suffer fools gladly' and thought that Thais were pretty laid-back people, this information alone could easily save me a trip to the intensive care unit (or worse)!

In summary, if you are looking at getting all of the nitty gritty on living in Thailand, this is the best book that I have come across on the subject so far.

I have expected to learn more about the culture and customs of the Thais, too much about money and rates that are being out of date.
