Put quite simply this is an 'AWESOME' album getting a deserved CD release by BIG BEAT.The escalators featured two of the origenal members of Psychobilly giants THE METEORS,messers NIGEL LEWIS and MARK ROBERTSON way back in 1983(although the origenal Meteors also used the name for an 'undecover' 7'' EP release back in 1981 as THE CLAPHAM SOUTH ESCALATORS).Also in the band was another ex member of The Meteors WOODIE who origenaly replaced Mark Robertson in 1982.The band is completed by BART COLES.Comparisons with The Meteors carnt be helped and like the origenal line-up your getting 'two groups in one' that is vocal duties are shared from track to track by Nigel and Bart(as they were by Nigel and P.Paul Fenech in the Meteors).Although the music isnt out and out Psychobilly-its much more proggresive-the tracks are not only origenal in their construction they are also fantastic songs-everyone of them!!! Production is pin sharp and the musicianship is of the very highest quality.Best tracks are...well all of them really! Fans of the origenal-and by far the best Meteors line-up will love these recordings especialy the Nigel Lewis tracks(isnt it a shame HE wasnt allowed to keep The Meteors name?).The only gripe with this CD release is that the brilliant two 7'' singles SOMETHINGS MISSING/THE EDGE and MUNSTERS THEME/MONDAY arnt on the album as extra tracks(athough there is a better 'album version' of Monday).Quite frankly a brilliant album-practicaly unheard except for the die hards and well worth buying.
